Dog Friendly Holidays – because dogs deserve a holiday too!
More people than ever are taking their dogs on holiday! Here at Holiday Cottages HQ, we’ve noticed a huge increase in dog friendly cottage bookings. Dog friendly holidays are up 11% on last year and a quarter of all bookings now include a four-legged friend. We researched this growing trend in dog friendly holidays and discovered some really interesting facts and figures which we have now turned into an infographic for you to enjoy and share.
Why Take Your Dog on Holiday?
We think dogs are an important part of family life and it seems people agree, 72% of people surveyed said that they consider their dog as a family member when booking a holiday and 1 in 4 people said they would be willing to pay as much for their dog as it would cost to take another human! This is great news for dogs and also good for their owner’s bank balances as our research has shown that it could be up to seven times cheaper to take your dog to a dog friendly cottage than book them a place in kennels. With Holiday Cottages it only costs £20 per dog per week for them to join you in one of our pet friendly cottages, compared to kennels which can cost anywhere between £12 and £25 a night, we believe holidaying with your dog is a much cheaper (and more fun!) option.
Not only is taking your dog on holiday the cheaper option, it can also improve your overall holiday experience as 75% of people who leave their dog in kennels spend time worrying about them, and over a million people admitted to crying or feeling guilty. A third of people surveyed even admitted to talking to their dogs on the phone or leaving them voice messages!
