About the property

COACH HOUSE SET IN THE HEART OF CORNWALL IDEAL FOR TOURING THE AREA

The spacious coach house is set in the grounds of a Georgian manor house; this grade II listed house holds strong connections with the inspirational Cornish writer Daphne Du Maurier. The manor house was rebuilt into a larger vicarage in the 1840's and it was here that the writer met the resident vicar and penned one of her best known novels, Jamaica Inn. The coach house is set on the edge of Altarnun, one of the most unspoilt villages in Cornwall and offers a general store and two local pubs less than one mile away. The village is well located for discovering the many treasures that Cornwall has to offer, being on the edge of the A30 providing easy access to rugged Bodmin Moor, a perfect setting for walking and riding. The whole of the Cornish coastline including the fishing villages of Padstow, Looe and Polperro as well as the resorts of Bude, Newquay and St Ives with their stunning sandy beaches are within driving distance. The famous Eden Project, mythical Tintagel Castle, Blue Reef Aquarium and Newquay Zoo, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trebah Gardens and numerous National Trust properties provide attractions to suit all tastes and are all within easy reach. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the area, including one in the village itself just under a mile’s walk, or relax in the courtyard at Penhallow Coach House with a BBQ.

This unique property dates from 1842 and the accommodation offers THREE bedrooms: 1 double with en-suite shower room and WC on the ground floor, 1 twin with en-suite shower and WC, and 1 further double with shower over bath and WC both on the first floor. The spacious kitchen/diner is well equipped offering electric hob, electric oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. Double doors open into the cosy lounge which offers woodburner (first basket of logs included), TV with Freeview, DVD and Playstation 2. The cobbled courtyard to the front offers garden furniture and BBQ, and guests are welcome to enjoy the large lawns to the front of the main manor house. Ample parking. Bed linen, towels, electricity and central heating included. Regret no pets or smoking. Beach 30 minutes, pub under 1 mile, shop in the village walking distance.
