A natural harbour, Fowey is a haven for visiting yachts and is now a popular destination. Fowey is and has been the home to many famous people. The town itself boasts an excellent array of craft shops and galleries, many exhibiting local work.

Readymoney bay is a small gently sloping sandy beach. It is situated in a cove sheltered by cliffs which open out on to the mouth of the River Fowey Estuary. To the North it is bounded by the medieval part of the Fowey. To the South West is St Catherine's Castle. Dog restrictions apply. Close by is Lantic Bay, a beautiful cove with white sands. This is hard to find and with difficult access to the beach means that there is rarely a crowd.

If you are looking for refreshments then there is a choice of traditional pubs, café, quaint tea-rooms, fish ’n’ chip shops or restaurants for that gourmet dinner.

Fowey is an excellent place if you like walking, whether seriously of just out for a stroll. Hall Walk is by far the most popular of the estuary walks. It is a circular walk that follows the banks of the river and utilises both ferries, via Bodinnick, Pont creek and Polruan. The Saints Way traverses the county from Padstow to Fowey. It links many of the holy places associated with Celtic saints from the 5th & 7th Century and is approximately 30 miles in distance.

Locally Bens Play World is close by at St Austell and is great fun for children between the ages of 2-12. With mega slides, giant tubes, ball pools, death slides, spooky maze and crazy house it’ll keep them amused for hours on end.

Associated with Daphne Du Maurier, Fowey hosts an annual festival celebrating her literary work. This is the Festival of Arts and Literature that takes place in the middle of May each year. The Fowey Royal Regatta & Carnival week normally takes place in August and involves a week of sailing, festivities and entertainment.
