Set within a stunning Dartmoor valley, there's a full programme of children's entertainment during school holidays, including Animal Encounter Shows, Animal Feeding sessions, puppet shows, storytelling and, new for this year, a genuine Victorian Flea Circus!

Heather-covered moorland and deep wooded gorges, beautiful reservoirs and rocky rivers, patchwork farmland and craggy granite tors, the Dartmoor National Park covers an area of 368 square miles - the largest, and wildest, area of open country in southern England.

Departing from Okehampton, the 'Dartmoor Pony' climbs for 2 miles through scenic Devon countryside, through Estrayer Park tunnel, past open meadows, finally running alongside the workings of Meldon stone quarry to Meldon Viaduct station in the Dartmoor National Park.

A Celebration of working steam in the countryside - there are many examples of both road and industrial steam engines and early petrol and diesel machines housed in large buildings where they are at work. Opportunities for 'hands on' experience are all part of a visit to Dingles.

Okehampton Castle presents a good example of why it was important to consider carefully the location of a castle. The site has steep slopes to the south, providing a natural defence, and the added probability of waterlogged fields to slow down any hostile approaches.
