Visitors to Drummetts Mill can easily walk directly from the cottage and wander the beautiful Torridge Valley (part of the river runs through the land) and you can access the 20 miles of footpaths on the nearby Torrington Commons which offers spectacular views. Alternatively, hire bicycles and cycle traffic-free on the disused railway track known as the Tarka Trail and stop for a drink or bite to eat at one of the many watering holes en route. Beach and surf lovers will be in their element with the Blue Flag beach of Westward Ho! which is only a 15 minute drive. Westward Ho! boasts 2 miles of golden sands and typical seaside amenities to suit all ages and tastes. Other attractions worth visiting are Torrington 1646 where you can step back in time and see a re-enactment of the Battle of Torrington. RHS Rosemoor, which is only a few minutes away, provides a wonderful visitor attraction. Torrington's most famous Dartington Crystal has its own most fascinating visitor tour. The fishing village of Appledore with its quaint streets and pubs offers boat trips or visit Clovelly with its steep, stepped, cobbled streets which lead down to a pretty harbour. Golfers are also well catered for with excellent courses at Torrington, Westward Ho! and Saunton. Keen fisherman have an abundant choice of venues for both coarse and river fishing all within a 30 minute drive of the cottage. Salmon and trout fishing available on owner's private beats by prior arrangements. For wet weather days you are just a few minutes away from the indoor heated swimming pool at Torrington and many other fun places to visit and see. All in all an ideal holiday location.
Camping can be arranged within the confines of picturesque meadow flanked by a stream. All facilities, play area, picnic area, private access to the Tarka Trail metres away, power showers, toilets and laundry. Private meadow, gardens and picnic areas are opposite the cottage including table, chairs and BBQ which conveniently overlooks the children's play area. Wi-fi available for a nominal fee. Ample parking. Bed linen, electric and central heating included. Regret no smoking in the property. 1 small dog welcome. Beach 6 miles, pubs walking distance, nearest shops within 1 mile.
The End House is the larger of the 2 barns and offers FOUR bedrooms: 2 double bedrooms on the ground floor, 1 twin bedroom and 1 single bedroom on the first floor. Also on the first floor bathroom with bath (mixer tap) and WC, large open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with large A-frame beams enhancing the feeling of space. Delightfully furnished and equipped to a high standard with electric cooker and hob, fridge, microwave and many useful extras. Washing machine in shared separate games room. TV, DVD, Freeview and hi-fi. The End House offers many character features such as slate flooring, exposed stonework and beams and central heating makes the barn a warm and welcoming holiday retreat.
