Dune Cottage Holidays is a group of recently converted stone barns set in the beautiful North Devon countryside. Here guests can relax on the farm where they are free to roam the 20 acres or take in the many nearby attractions such as the famous beaches, the moors, or explore the local towns and villages that are all within easy reach. Guests are welcome to visit the on-site library that is stocked with books, children's videos and toys or visit the children's outside play area. There is a chance to meet and interact with a variety of animals on the farm including horses, donkeys, llamas, goats and pigs.
The cottages have a warm and inviting atmosphere with woodburners in West Cottage, The Granary, Mill House and Barn Owl for those cooler out of season evenings, comfortable furnishings that are in keeping with the properties and many tasteful finishing touches. The owners have carefully retained much of the building's original character and exposed beams, and each cottage is decorated in neutral colours with polished wooden floors throughout, except The Granary which is tiled, and underfloor central heating throughout, except West Cottage which has radiators, creating a warm and luxurious environment. Each cottage has an open-plan sitting room with a TV, video, and hi-fi with kitchen and dining areas, apart from West Cottage which has a separate lounge, dining room and kitchen which are tiled. The kitchens are fully equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/ freezer and washer/dryer (Barn Owl has a dishwasher and West Cottage has a separate washing machine and tumble dryer). Spacious bedrooms that have good sized quality beds and ample wardrobe and storage space. Private enclosed patios with garden furniture and disposable BBQs that can be bought on site at cost. Bed linen, electric, central heating and your first basket of logs is included additional logs can be purchased on site (towels are not supplied). 1 well-behaved pet welcome (dogs not to be left unattended in cottages). The owners of Dune Cottage Holidays have undertaken the whole challenge of converting the barns. There is now only 1 barn remaining and it is due to be completed in the near future.
Barn Owl is the largest cottage and it is situated between Mill House and the original farmhouse. As you enter from the courtyard you soon discover the majority of the FIVE bedrooms are downstairs: 1 double with en-suite shower and WC, 3 twin bedrooms, family bathroom with hand-held shower and WC and 1 further double on the first floor with en-suite shower and WC. Walk up the stairs (fixed wooden stairgate) to reveal a splendid large galleried lounge/kitchen/diner with a woodburner and extensive rural views. The whole room is overflowing with character from its vast beams and original stonework to the window used by the resident white barn owl during the early part of the last century. You can exit from upstairs via the stable door down the external staircase to your own private garden with patio furniture. During off-peak season Barn Owl Cottage is available at price band S for up to 6 people.
