There is easy access to the port and market town of Bideford approximately 2 miles, which offers a good range of shops and amenities catering for day-to-day needs. More extensive shopping facilities and amenities are available at the regional centre of Barnstaple which is about 13 miles. To the east of Abbotsham is Westward Ho! with its sandy beaches and Royal North Devon Golf Club, one of the oldest and most prestigious golf clubs in England that hugs the shore line and is a must for any golfer or historian alike. Close by are popular estuary villages of Appledore and Instow and there is also Clovelly which is well worth a visit, with its steep, stepped, cobbled streets which lead down to a pretty harbour. For those who love walking, both the South West Coast Path with its breathtaking views and The Tarka Trail, which gives you many miles of safe track for walking and cycling, are close by.
