Southole Barns is set in a wonderful location between the sea and the countryside in a designated coastal preservation area, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a nature conservancy zone. Set on a sheltered south-facing valley in the rural hamlet of Southole within the Parish of Hartland amidst rolling countryside on the North Devon coastline. The barns are just minutes from the spectacular South West Coast Path which provide uninterrupted clifftop and coastal walks with this rugged coastline renowned for its dramatic scenery and breathtaking sea views and 1.5 miles from Welcombe Mouth Beach and the village with its church, community shop, pottery and a thatched public house "The Old Smithy" known for good food within the area. Southole Barns also adjoin National Trust land and are close to the Hartland Heritage Coast. The barns are 3 miles from the A39 (Atlantic Highway), which gives easy access to the North Devon and Cornwall coastlines, to seaside resorts such as Bude, Widemouth Bay and legendary Tintagel as well as King Arthur's Castle. The picturesque fishing port of Padstow, home to Rick Stein's restaurant is also along this coast.
All four barns are set in a beautiful cobbled courtyard and were former Victorian farm buildings. Each barn has been sympathetically converted to form an attractive range of self catering barns all with its own individual style. The character properties include bed linen, electric and central heating (except in the cooler months from 22 Sept to 14 April where it is an extra £20 per week for Week St Mary and £30 per week for the other three barns). The gardens are mainly laid to lawn with flower and shrub borders. The pond is accessible from the garden and is quite deep and for this reason children must be supervised at all times when playing. Parking available for 1 car per property (extra parking space is available on request by prior arrangement with the owners). Please note that there is a maximum booking of two barns per party. Communal room which offers a wide range of videos, DVD's, books, puzzles, games and general information as well as free of charge shared use of a washer/dryer (Monday to Friday 10am till 6pm) and a shared freezer is also at your disposal in this room from 10am to 8pm. Please note Southole Barns are not on mains water supply and the laundry facility may be restricted or even suspended during the hot season and periods of drought. Regret no smoking or pets. Beach 1.5 miles, shop and pub 3.5 miles. Arrival time, 4pm and departure, 10am. A security deposit of £100 per Barn is required and is payable direct to the owners on arrival.
