Set in a beautiful location within Braunton Burrows Nature Reserve and situated 1.5 miles from the golden sands and surfing beach of Saunton Sands and nearby Croyde, these delightful cottages offer a unique holiday experience. The cottages are set amongst mature trees and shrubs and are surrounded by 12 acres of pastureland, where mown paths meander through wildflower meadows to encircle a tranquil and picturesque lake, which is stocked to challenge the most ambitious coarse fisherman. Warm summer evenings can be enjoyed looking across the water, or simply sitting at one of the benches with your favourite tipple, whilst the children will find fun and challenges in the adventure park and toddler play area. The grounds offer plenty of open space for football, cricket and other ball games. In addition, there is an indoor heated swimming pool and hot tub, which is open all year round, a games room with a pool table, table tennis, table football and a young children’s area with various toys and entertainment. Willowfield Lake Cottages are ideally based for exploring the surrounding area. Being within the UNESCO Biosphere, the nature reserve covers over 1000 acres and is one of Britain’s finest sand dune areas with a rich variety of plant life, many rare. The Tarka Trail pathway which follows the estuaries of the Taw and Torridge as far as Torrington is perfect for walking and cycling and just 1.5 miles away. A 5 minute drive will take you to Saunton Sands beach, a 3 mile stretch of golden sand perfect for finding your own space in amongst the sand dunes. Around the headland lies the pretty village of Croyde, boasting good pubs, restaurants and a lovely family beach. There is also a championship links golf course at Saunton.
Facilities include: Indoor heated swimming pool 31’ x 19’ (open 9am – 9pm, 12pm – 9pm on Saturdays) with children’s shallow end, changing and shower facilities. Hot tub. Games room with table tennis, and coin-operated pool table and table football. Toddler’s enclosed play area. Children’s adventure park including high rise tower, rock wall, cottage den, spiral tube slide, monkey bars, slide, fireman’s pole, gang plank and swings. Toddler’s play area with wendy house, slides and climbing frame. Ball games areas and giant chess. Coarse fishing lake with picnic tables, (mature stocks of carp up to 25lbs, tench up to 8lbs, and roach up to 1.5lbs) using barbless hooks, fishing free of charge subject to own licence, bring own fishing tackle. Night fishing permitted (conditions apply).

Magpie Cottage has views stretching across the meadow and spacious surroundings and offers TWO bedrooms: 1 double and 1 twin bedroom. Lounge/diner with TV and DVD. Newly-fitted modern kitchen with double oven, canopy over a ceramic touch control hob, microwave and integral fridge, Franke sink, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Fully-fitted bathroom with a new suite including a Grohe power shower and underfloor heating with a tiled floor and wall-mounted heated towel rail. A patio door leads out from the lounge and takes you to a private covered area, with patio, garden, tables and chairs and BBQ. This property sleeps 4 or 3 with a cot.
