About the property
IDYLLIC PROPERTY, WONDERFUL VALLEY LOCATION, LESS THAN 3/4 MILE WALK FROM THE BEACH
This comfortable character detached house stands in its own 3 acres of garden and woodland in a designated Area of Special Scientific Interest, with direct access to the breathtaking cliffs and waterfall of Spekes Mill Mouth, that overlooks a secluded sand and rocky beach, enjoyed by both reef surfers and amateur prawn, crab and lobster fishermen.
Garden lovers will be interested to know that the award-winning Docton Mill gardens are adjacent to the property and, in season, are well worth a visit as well as the mouth-watering cream teas. The village of Hartland is only 3 miles away and offers a choice of pubs serving food, shops and a Post Office. Other interesting places worth visiting nearby are Clovelly with its cobbled streets, sandy beaches at Sandymouth, which is just over the border in Cornwall, and Hartland Quay with its museum and history of wreckers and shipwrecks, remains of which can still be found around the rocky beaches of Hartland Point. Finally, many attractions such as The Big Sheep and The Milky Way offer excellent family entertainment. Leisure facilities: the property’s own grounds offer a wealth of interest and excitement for all ages and include bluebell woods with tracks, pathways and bridges. Both adults and children alike enjoy the large log seating area around a campfire gazing at the stars and enjoying a sausage on a stick. The grounds lead down to an unfenced stream (children beware) where wild brown trout can be caught. There is also a mill pond, 200 yards from the house, that fills in rainy weather and is also unfenced. The garden to the rear of the property has steps that lead to sloping lawns and to the side of the house there is a spectacular decked area looking out over the lower lawns and valley which are a blanket of daffodils, bluebells and other wild flowers in Spring. Games room: there is a patio area at the rear of the house with access to a small room and adjacent, transformed garage that houses table football and darts. There is also a small fridge, hi-fi and sofa for the young to get away, where parents can visit by invitation only.
