Further south, the famous resort and sailing centre of Salcombe is an area unspoilt natural beauty that is surrounded by tranquil countryside and magnificent scenic coastline. A peace of paradise!
The ancient medieval market town of Kingsbridge lies betwixt Plymouth, to the west, Torbay to the east and Dartmoor to the north and can truly claim to be the ‘hub’ from which to explore this beautiful area.
Carved into the banks of the beautiful River Dart, historic Dartmouth has narrow streets full of galleries, restaurants, craft shops, overhanging medieval houses and old quays. A year round resort, Dartmouth is a popular boating centre with a famous regatta.
Totnes is a charming village, which has always been a centre for trade. It hosts two or three markets a week where you can browse around colourful and fascinating stalls. Seated in a valley with the River Dart running through, Totnes features woodlands, grassy fields and riverside walks.
Torquay’s seafront with its palm-lined promenade and gardens, hosts a lively harbour and an international marina. Close to the town centre are wide-open stretches of sandy beaches with watersport activities. With its colourful atmosphere and first class attractions, Torquay offers the essential ingredient for a magical family holiday.
Relaxing but never sleepy, Dawlish has special charm & character. With three superb beaches, many shops, cafes, inns and restaurants, it has a range of attractions including boat trips and fishing trips, a theatre, museum and art galleries to suit all.
Bovey Tracey on the edge of Dartmoor, is home to a large watermill now a famous gallery, with themed shows throughout the year. Close by is the Stover Country Park which has over 100 acres of woodland, heathlands and a 10-acre lake.

Dartmouth
The beautiful town is one of the most splendid destinations in South Devon. Most popularly known for its seaport, the history of this small area dates back to prehistoric times. With a cobbled market place, and ancient narrow streets, Dartmouth retains much of its previous heritage, characterised by the many Elizabethan houses. Aside of the history of the town, Dartmouth boasts a large variety of specialist shops, where enthusiastic shopkeepers are experts in their field.
Torquay
Situated in the heart of the English Riviera on the south coast of Devon, lies the holiday destination of Torquay. Dating back to the Victorian period, Torquay has always been one of the UK’s top holiday resorts with an array of attractions and events for all ages all year round. With over 22 miles of beautiful golden coastline, there are no fewer than 19 beaches and coves.
