ELEGANT PROPERTY IN AN IMPRESSIVE LOCATION

Teign Lodge forms part of an elegant house and retains much of its character and charm with high ceilings, open fire (gas but authentic) and overlooks the lovely, well-maintained Forde Park with its huge, ancient evergreen Holm Oaks. Teign Lodge occupies the first 2 floors of this 3 storey property with the third floor being a private apartment. There is a separate entrance with ample off-road parking and you will also have sole use of the large enclosed garden. There are tennis courts at the opposite side of the park. The mainline railway station is 5 minutes walk away. The National Trust's Bradley Manor is 30 minutes scenic walking over hill and dale. Newton Abbot's railway museum in Devon Square will be of interest to enthusiasts. Newton Abbot is a market town with the main farmers market on Tuesdays and street traders on Wednesdays. In the local village of Shaldon on the Teign estuary the locals during the summer, dress and parade in traditional period costume. The famous Widecombe-in-the-Moor is well worth a visit, Dartmoor ponies and their foals in season are frequently encountered roaming around the village. Newton Abbot is twixt moor and sea and is perfectly positioned for touring and sightseeing the immediate and surrounding areas. There are many attractions in the area including Torquay with its many and varied attractions which is a few miles further South and offers a palm-lined promenade, seafront gardens, a lively harbour and an international marina, to name but a few. Paignton Zoo is international standard and is worth a visit. Dartmouth, of naval historic importance with the Royal Naval College, can be approached via the beautiful River Dart. While you are there take a round robin trip on the Steam Railway. River trips leave Totnes regularly throughout the day but are dependant on tides. Take a few hours doing the Totnes-Dartmouth-Totnes river trip then enjoy the rest of the day relaxing in the amazing character of this unique Devon town. Totnes is a wonderful shopping town - you will undoubtedly be back again the next day.

The accommodation offers SIX bedrooms: 2 doubles, 1 with shower, handbasin and WC in a screened area of the bedroom, 3 twins and 1 small single room. The double on the ground floor with patio doors leads out on to the enclosed garden. Family bathroom upstairs with bath and shower over and WC. Shower room downstairs with WC. Separate downstairs WC. Lounge with TV, DVD, hi-fi, gas fire and patio doors leading to large enclosed garden area. Well-equipped kitchen with Aga, separate gas hob and electric ovens, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Dining area with large table extended to seat 10/12, TV and DVD. Enclosed garden area with garden furniture and BBQ. Parking for 6 cars. Bed linen and towels included. Supplement for electric and gas central heating from October to March (£200) and April to September (£100) payable 1 week in advance, surplus to be refunded shortly after holiday. Regret no smoking. Dogs welcome. Several beaches within 6 miles, pubs within walking distance. All short breaks are charged at 85% of the weekly price.
