Torquay

Situated in the heart of the English Riviera on the south coast of Devon, lies the holiday destination of Torquay. Dating back to the Victorian period, Torquay has always been one of the UK’s top holiday resorts with an array of attractions and events for all ages all year round. With over 22 miles of beautiful golden coastline, there are no fewer than 19 beaches and coves, from the popular central beach of Abbey Sands to the more secluded beach, most with cafes, beach huts, and various water sports.

Whatever your age, try your hand at surfing, swimming, diving, sailing, angling, and explore the wonderful natural wildlife at your leisure. Simply sit back, relax, and take in the encapsulating views across the bay and over the English Channel, along the 40 miles of coastline up to Lyme Regis, or look north towards the Tors of Dartmoor.

The main waterfront of Torquay is the life and soul of the town, with a palm lined promenade, seafront gardens, lively harbour, and an International Marina, providing a magnificent Mediterranean style backdrop to a relaxing evening meal.

With a wide variety of food and drink in the many pubs, cafes and beach side restaurants, your culinary experience is sure to be one to remember. Once you have let your food settle, take to one of the many continental style bars, fetes, fairs, live music shows and bask in the nightlife of Torquay.

For the quieter night with the family, take a trip to the Princess Royal theatre and marvel at one of the many west end travelling shows, or admire the illuminations stretching right across the bay. After you night of activities, take a trip to the Pavilion Shopping Centre, which started life as an Edwardian theatre, where specialist shops and restaurants now encompass the terraced mall overlooking the harbour.

For the kids Torquay is not a trip without visiting Living Coasts, the UK’s ultimate coastal zoo celebrating the wildlife that inhabits the coastal regions of the world.
