Chesil Cove is a terraced fisherman's cottage built in 1788 and is located across the road and approximately 100 metres behind Chesil Beach. It is furnished to a good standard with all the comforts of home and makes a good base for touring Dorset. Portland is made up of a mismay of quarry and fishermen's cottages, steep narrow streets and makes a great location for all kinds of activities as well as offering a choice of village-style shops and places to eat. The surrounding sea and harbour provide excellent conditions for diving, snorkelling, canoeing/kayaking, windsurfing/kite surfing, fishing and sailing with the 2012 Olympic sailing venue just a 2 minute drive. You are ideally situated to explore the Jurassic coastline and hunt for fossils or discover the wealth of all year attractions the area has to offer including Monkey World, Portland Castle, Weymouth's Deep Sea Adventure and much more. The popular seaside town of Weymouth is just 6 miles with its sandy beach, high street shops, pubs, cinema and harbour where you could enjoy a day trip to the Channel Islands on a fast ferry.
The accommodation is arranged over three floors and offers THREE bedrooms: 1 double and 1 twin on the third floor approached via steep cottage stairs (children take care) and 1 double on the second floor with a bathroom with bath, hand-held shower and WC and a separate shower room. Lounge with TV, DVD, video, SkyTV (Freesat) and a cosy gas fire for those chilly nights. Dining room. Kitchen with gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine is located in a lockable stone shed that is also useful for storing bikes and surfboards. To the front of the cottage is an enclosed courtyard approached via external steps with seating. Roadside parking at the back of the property with external steps taking you down to the cottage. There is also roadside parking at the front of the property. Bed linen, electric and central heating included. Regret no smoking or pets. Shops, pubs and beach walking distance. |
