Short Breaks

Most of the time our holiday properties book out for the Full week (7 nights), however there are times during some Off Peak periods or last minute where Short Breaks may be arranged with certain properties. They can be either 3, 4, 5 or 6 nights and are priced accordingly. Please remember that all short break enquiries have to be checked prior to booking, simply find your perfect cottage, get in touch and we will help finalise your enquiry either email or phone our Reservation Team .

Our offices are open every day.

Making Your Holiday Green

We are now more aware than ever of the impact we have on the planet and many of us are keen to reduce this impact by lowering our carbon footprint. Tourism can put a strain on the natural world because of issues like uncontrolled development in some of the most beautiful places on the planet and excessive amounts of waste and energy consumption.

Green holidays seek to reduce their contribution to these negative effects, thereby preserving holiday destinations for the future. Everyone involved can make a difference – from holiday companies and property owners to individual holidaymakers and travellers…

There are many ways you can reduce your impact on the environment whilst away; so for those who wish to embark on a ‘green holiday’, we’ve put together some simple but effective ideas to help make your stay in the West Country a green one:

Stay at one of our Green Tourism Business Scheme accredited properties. With features such as energy saving appliances, full recycling facilities, solar panels, and even grass and flower roofing, our holiday cottages aim to provide a more sustainable and environmentally friendly service, to nationally recognised standards.

Cycle, walk and use public transport while you’re on holiday. There’s no need to hunt for parking and it’s a great way to take in your new surroundings. With many of the Farm & Cottage Holidays properties situated near safe, accessible cycle tracks and with plenty of stunning coastal and country walks to enjoy, it’s now even easier to leave the car behind. You can also explore local waterways with the South West’s network of river ferries, offering a glimpse of beautiful views that can only be seen off dry land.

Buy local, try local produce. The West Country offers some of the best food and drink in the world and with more local producers than any other region in the UK, our shops and markets are brimming with home grown goodness. Whether you’re looking to try something new or reacquaint yourself with a traditional dish, the beautiful range of cheeses, fruit and veg, wines, meats and fresh seafood offer the very best of the South West.

Expand your knowledge of the environment. The West Country can boast of many educational attractions like the Eden Project, the Jurassic Coast, the Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and the New Forest; all of which are popular places to visit for those wanting to explore conservation areas and attractions.

Reuse, reduce and recycle and continue everyday environmentally friendly actions like switching off lights, preserving water, choosing seasonal, locally grown food when possible and taking your own bags to the shops.

Respect the Countryside Code

Even if you only manage a few of these things, you will still help to reduce the carbon foot print of your holiday and support local industry. Not only will you feel recharged after a relaxing holiday, you will go home feeling good in the knowledge that you have done your bit for the environment.
