From the busy harbour at Padstow you will be able to find beaches within walking distance or a short drive along the coast takes you to some of Cornwall’s finest beaches.
Whether you fancy a trip round the harbour or to try your hand at fishing you will find plenty of choice amongst the colourful boats lining the harbour. The local ferry across the estuary to nearby Rock provides an abundance of photo opportunities. From here you can follow the coastpath around to Polzeath, passing the beautiful St Enodoc Church which is the burial place of Sir John Betjeman.
Today Padstow remains a fishing port whose produce has been made famous by Rick Stein’s television series and acclaimed seafood restaurant.
Take time out to explore the port’s rich heritage with the hidden curiosities of the Town Trail, the maritime displays in Padstow Museum and the grounds and lavish interiors of Prideaux Place, a beautiful Elizabethan mansion. On the North Quay you can visit the National Lobster Hatchery.
Padstow is the start and finish of the Camel Trail, an old railway line which is now a cycle and footpath winding 18 miles along the River Camel.
