Camborne is named from the Cornish for crooked hill – Kammbronn and the local landscape is dominated by Carn Brea Hill where there are remains of Iron Age hill forts. Carn Brea Castle, with spectacular views across to St Ives and The Lizard, will provide a unique dining experience and is a must to visit.
Just North of Camborne is Tehidy Country Park, a 250 acre woodland park with footpaths to explore and a network of cycle trails. Local beaches of Portreath and Porthtowan are a haven for families with miles of golden sand and lots of surf to enjoy for the more adventurous. Both beaches have seasonal lifeguard cover and dog restrictions apply between Easter and October. The nearby pebbly beach of North Cliffs, known locally as Deadman’s Cove, is suspected of being haunted.
Plenty of family attractions are within easy reach. You can even purchase tin jewellery which is manufactured locally from tin stocks taken from the once thriving South Crofty Tin Mine.
