Falmouth

Falmouth holidays

Falmouth, the leading South coast resort, boasts Blue Flag beaches, specialist shops and transport links by rail, road and bus. Meander through the narrow streets browsing the charming mix of specialist shops and high street chains and you will catch glimpses of the harbour from where you can take trips on the local ferries to nearby St Mawes and river creeks.

It is no wonder that Falmouth hosts food and drink festivals each year, as here you will find an eclectic mix of traditional beachside cafes, local pubs and elegant fine dining serving locally caught fish.

About Falmouth

Falmouth

A ten minute stroll from the Town Centre will take you to the Blue Flag sandy beach of Gyllyngvase, ideal for a family day out. Or why not take a local boat trip across to St Mawes where you can explore the castle and quaint meandering streets which lead to pretty cottages and cosy pubs. Pendennis Castle, twin to St Mawes, is also well worth a visit.

Falmouth has long been a popular water sports location and has a long maritime heritage. Today it is still the starting point for many Worldwide seafaring challenges, as well as being a port of choice to many cruise lines. The docks still play a major role in the local economy and the National Maritime Museum is a popular day out for all the family, with fascinating exhibits and hands-on activities. There is an ongoing boat restoration project to investigate and the views from the 29 metre tower are spectacular.

A short drive down the picturesque river creek you will find the King Harry Ferry, one of only five chain ferries in England. The trip will take you across the Carrick Roads estuary and onto the Roseland Peninsula, home to the beautiful Trelissick Gardens and many quaint villages.
