The village itself is a huddle of 20th century buildings and nearby Pengersick Castle is said to be one of the most haunted buildings in the land. Regular ghost hunting pursuits take place, especially at Halloween or Christmas.
Wildlife abounds around the area. During the Spring and Autumn many migrating birds stop off to feed and shelter here on their long journey to Africa. You might also be lucky enough to spot a passing dolphin or porpoise at certain times of the year.
There is a season lifeguard service and canoes can be hired from the beach shop.
A nine hole links golf course locally welcomes non-members.
