About Dartmoor

Dartmoor

Dartmoor is a beautiful vast open area of some 368 square miles, the largest in southern England. A holiday on Dartmoor offers an immense variety of activities for all the family. Why not take in the fantastic views from horse back or by travelling along Drakes Trail a network of walking and cycling trails from Tavistock to Plymouth. For more adrenalin fuelled activities, there’s canoeing on the River Dart and fantastic places to swim al fresco. For a day of fun on the moor why not try letterboxing, similar to a treasure hunt and fun for all the family.

If all that activity makes you hungry Dartmoor is the perfect place to sample an array of local produce from traditional Devon cream teas to fish and chips and the very best in locally produced meat and dairy produce. Tavistock a bustling market town set on the River Tavy, situated to the west of Dartmoor. With its pannier market and wealth of shops and restaurants Tavistock is a great place to spend the day.

Scattered across this amazing landscape there are plenty of picturesque villages, all with their own history and character. Take time out for a cream tea in Chagford or wander around Widecombe in the Moor. Lustleigh nestled in the east of the moor is one of Dartmoor’s prettiest villages with its 15th century church and 16th century inn.

With so much to see and do, Dartmoor is a perfect holiday destination.
