Take time to look through the unusual collection of craft and gift shops, displaying the artwork and creations of local artists and sample the local cream teas, or clotted cream and ice cream in one of the quaint tearooms.
Once a year the town attracts thousands of visitors to the Widecombe fair, made famous by Uncle Tom Cobley. This is a real Devonshire county fare with plenty of things to do, try, taste, and admire, sheep and equine classes, terrier racing, vintage machinery and vehicles, family pet show, fancy dress, maypole dancing, tug of war, bale tossing, and to top it off, the Uncle Tom Cobley downhill race!
