About Bradworthy

Bradworthy

Bradworthy is an old Saxon village, situated in the middle of Devon’s countryside, perfect for that rural retreat. There is a local legend that a nymph called Tamara and a giant’s son, Torridge, created the two rivers that lie on two sides of the village. The local community are known as “horniwinks” after the bird which once lived on the local moor.

Boasting the largest village square in the West Country, and known as “the towne-place” it certainly is the hub of the community, and the local amenities are all here, the pub, the church dating back to Norman times, and a post office and butchers. The Pump House is also situated here and commemorates Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Tamar Lakes are close by, an ideal place for birdwatchers and fisherman, or water sports enthusiasts who enjoy sailing, windsurfing or canoeing.
