The main allure at Croyde is the world class surf, and its golden sandy stretch of beach which is utter perfection for surfers and bathers alike. Lifeguards patrol between May and September, making this a safe and popular beach for families. A surf school also provides lessons, so you can try your hand at this favourite pastime. Or you can explore the sand dunes and rock pools, great fun for little adventurers!
The quaint little village itself, some parts dating back to the 17th century, has picture postcard thatched cottages, cafes and tea-shops serving delicious Devonshire cream teas, and a number of pubs. There are also a number of gift shops and a craft centre to explore, as well as numerous surf hire shops and ice cream parlours, selling every flavour ice cream you can think of !
You have a further choice of two other beaches nearby at Saunton Sands and Putsborough, and if rambling is your choice of recreation, you can take a walk to Baggy Point on the headland, now looked after by the National Trust and a beautiful unspoilt part of the coastline with spectacular views.
