This historical village is situated amongst the spectacular scenery of Devonshire farmland, and was one of the wealthiest parishes in its time. Two large mounds can be found in the village, the remains of 12th century castles, and now where the village hall stands.
The village is renowned for its cider and scrumpy manufacturers, and Inch’s Cider was formed after World War I, now owned by cider giants Bulmers. Winkleigh Cider is now on the original site and their small shop is well worth a visit where you can sample some delicious and traditional ciders.
Chulmleigh Golf Course is a short drive away, and a perfect place to spend an afternoon, with the stunning backdrop of Dartmoor. Just a half hour drive takes you to the North Devon coast, and some beautiful coves and beaches, with again stunning scenery, so don’t forget your camera!
