On a very quiet country road, this delightful whitewashed cottage offers spacious accommodation for a large family party or group of friends. The cottage dates back to 1706 and has been extended over the years.
Gelston village is a quiet backwater, the ideal place to relax amidst the green pastures and woodlands of rural Galloway. The area is beloved of birdwatchers and walkers, golfers and fishermen and there are a number of fine sandy beaches within a short drive. Boat hire, sailing, windsurfing and watersports available on Loch Ken. Nearby Threave Gardens are well worth a visit and bikes can be hired to explore the country lanes.
The accommodation offers FOUR bedrooms: all with TV’s, 2 doubles and 1 twin.1 further twin has adjacent en-suite bathroom with shower over bath. Bathroom: with shower over corner bath. Lounge: with TV. Dining room: sun lounge with dining table and views across the burn to fields. Kitchen: with breakfast table, gas hob/electric oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, auto washing machine and dishwasher. Outside: private patio area with garden furniture and BBQ, ornamental pool. Visitors are welcome to use the owner's well-tended garden. A charming feature is the shallow mill stream and waterfall descending to the Gelston Burn behind the property (Care must be taken with children although the area immediately around the house is gated for toddlers). Amenities: bed linen towels, electric, gas and oil included. 2 dogs welcome. Regret no smoking. Additional info: All rooms are on ground level and may suit some disabled visitors (Grade 3). Location: shops, pub/hotels in Castle Douglas 2.5 miles. Arrival: 4pm
Dogs are charged at £20.00 per week per dog or £3.00 per day per dog for short breaks.
