The Old Manse Hotel is a Cotswold-stone inn with a great restaurant inside. Imbuing local character, this dog-friendly bar and restaurant is one of Bourton-on-the-Water’s highlights. Dogs are welcome to join you in the bar as you dine on a choice of excellent dishes from seafood starters to gourmet fish and chips. On sunny days, you can dine outside in the riverside garden.

Visit the Chester House Hotel, which is home to L’anatra, Bourton-on-the-Water’s finest Italian restaurant. You can tuck into such Italianate delights as calzone, pizza, and pasta dishes galore. The seafood pasta dishes are a favourite with the locals. The hotel is also home to the Chester House Bar & Lounge. Book ahead at weekends as it can get busy.

The Rose Tree is located centrally and is a great family-friendly restaurant. On warm days, you can dine outside under the shade of large trees. The home-cooked dishes are made from locally sourced fresh ingredients and the chefs also cater for those with vegetarian and vegan preferences and on gluten-free diets. It’s an ambient lively place to spoil yourself come mealtime.

The best pub for a night out | The Kingsbridge Inn

Down by the riverside in Bourton-on-the-Water, is the stone-built Kingsbridge Inn. It’s a hub of activity throughout the year and is lively in the evenings if you are looking for a pleasant night out. The menu is excellent if you value good, honest English grub like pie and mash, sausages and chips, and other pub classics like burgers and pizzas. It’s popular with families in the daytime too and there are vegetarian and vegan choices available on the large menu also.

The Willow is one of the newest pubs in Bourton-on-the-Water, and it’s already building a reputation as somewhere to visit for good food and drink. There is a very good revolving selection of ales to pick from and the menu is always being updated to reflect seasonal availability of ingredients. Like all good places, it fills up fast on the weekends and during the summer.

The chefs at The Mousetrap Inn have created a whole host of interesting dishes for guests. Making the most of what they call the ‘Cotswolds larder’, which is their term for local produce, you are guaranteed that your supper or lunch will be fresh, delicious and interesting.
