Broad Haven, in the north of the county, has been welcoming holidaymakers since the 1800s and little has changed in the centuries since, with visitors using it as a great base to visit nearby St Davids, Haverfordwest and Milford Haven.
Of all the things to do in Broad Haven, trusting your gut should probably come at the top of the list. And what your gut wants is food and drink. Therefore, we’ve put together a list of Broad Haven restaurants and Broad Haven pubs to satisfy everyone from the connoisseur to the conservative.

Broad Haven restaurants
Despite being a small village in the southeast corner of St Brides Bay, the number of high-quality Broad Haven restaurants might surprise you. Take a look below.

Sunshine Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria
You can’t get much closer to eating on Broad Haven Beach unless you lay out a blanket and tuck into your own beachy buffet. And whilst a meal of finger sandwiches and a bag of Monster Munch is great, there’s nothing quite like being served at a table by friendly staff while you stare at the surf and the sand. You’ll get all this and more at Sunshine Italian, a pizzeria right on the coast with its own beachside garden.
This dog-friendly restaurant in Broad Haven serves up inspired Italian and Mediterranean cuisine from homemade pasta dishes to handmade pizzas – it even has its own ice cream parlour (when you own a restaurant in a county with the most dairy cows per square mile in the whole of the UK, you kind of have to). Enjoy Pembrokeshire beers and ciders, a selection of cocktails and mocktails, or take advantage of their takeaway service and hit the beach.

Sand and Stone Kitchen
Visit the award-winning Sand and Stone and enjoy dirty fries, dirty burgers and lots more indulgent masterpieces. Recently voted as offering the best burger in all of Pembrokeshire, Sand and Stone Kitchen can provide you with breakfast, brunch and lunch consisting of burgers, pizzas and fries, all of which can be washed down with beers, cocktails and soft drinks.
Open during the day, five days a week and in the evening every Friday and Saturday, the restaurant welcomes dogs and is moments from the beach. This is perfect as you might want to swim off a few of the calories you’ve taken on board. But hey, you’re on holiday; the diet starts when you get home. Customers often note that this is not your average burger joint so be prepared for flavours that are out of this world.

Off the Hook Bistro
If you’re looking for Broad Haven fish and chips, there is really only one place to visit. Off the Hook Bistro, which is owned and run by the proprietors of Sand and Stone, is renowned for having the best fish and chips in town. We’ve all been to places where there is more batter than fish, but here, as they cook the fish lightly in batter, it really emphasises the great flavours of the sea.
Sit in and marvel at the spectacular ocean views or order some takeaway and walk down to the beach which is 20 metres away. If you do decide to sit in the restaurant, you can bring your dog along with you and you’ll notice, along with most customers who review the bistro, that the decor is welcoming, the interior is always clean and the staff are always friendly. Throughout the year, there are specials available, for example, the chicken snack box, the curry and chips box and the spice box which is infused with Asian flavours. On occasion, they have live music to enjoy while you dine.

The Ocean
As you’d expect from the name, and as with most of the eateries in Broad Haven, The Ocean sits right on the beachfront. We’ve left this one until the end of our restaurant section as this establishment is a bit of a crossover, entertaining elements of both a restaurant and a pub. The restaurant boasts panoramic ocean views from all the tables and uses the best and freshest locally sourced produce to craft traditional feasts.
If you’re after some breakfast or just a light bite, the cafe is perfectly suited to cater for you. With barista coffee, sandwiches, breakfasts and award-winning ‘Kelly’s of Cornwall’ ice cream, the cafe is a great place to meet friends or shelter from the sun for a while. If there’s a big game on, head to the bar and unwind under one of four flat-screen TVs. And if you just fancy an ice-cold drink whilst watching the sunset, there are comfortable chairs waiting where you can gaze out across St Brides Bay.

Broad Haven pubs
There is just the one Broad Haven pub so while you wouldn’t be able to have much of a pub crawl in the village, you will receive a warm welcome and have the chance to sample exquisite ales and traditional pub food. For some of the best pubs in South Wales, have a read of our blog.

The Galleon Inn
Pub classics with a difference. That’s what The Galleon Inn promises when you walk through the doors and take a seat in the modern, cosy bar. Bring the children and the dog along for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with food served every day, albeit with a gap mid-afternoon when the kitchen closes for prep. Takeaway food and beer are available too if you fancy taking lunch down to the beach, although if you prefer to keep your toes sandless, you can situate yourself in the beer garden and watch the beach from afar (even though it’s not that far at all).
For a grander view, climb a flight of stairs, set yourself down in the first-floor seating area and take in the views over the whole of Broad Haven Beach. In the winter months, as the days get shorter and the nights draw in, challenge yourself with one of The Galleon’s weekly quiz nights. And every weekend, the pub hosts live music events so you can grab your pint and have a boogie with your friends or loved ones.

Pubs near Broad Haven
As we said, there’s only one pub in the village but we feel a special mention needs to go to a few nearby pubs. If you fancy travelling a little further outside of Broad Haven, there are some lovely little taverns and inns waiting to welcome you.
The Saint Brides Inn, located opposite the car park in Little Haven (1 mile from Broad Haven), offers good homemade food – focussing on fresh fish and Welsh meat – and friendly service. Also in Little Haven is The Castle, a place named as one of the top 10 coastal pubs by Visit Pembrokeshire. Expect incredible views and wonderful food. Ending our round-up is another pub in Little Haven. The Swan Inn is an 18th-century seaside tavern with a beach-view beer garden and occasional DJ sets. Although they don’t have a food menu, they do offer simple deli snacks focussing on Welsh cheese, olives and charcuterie.
