While the weather in the UK can be rather unpredictable, summer is always the warmest season of the year due to the northern hemisphere being tilted towards the sun.
On average, July is the hottest month and June is the sunniest. The highest temperatures tend to be felt around London and the south of England, ranging from 9 to 25°C – though, on occasion, it can reach around 30°C in a heatwave.
The summer solstice marks the point when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky. This is the longest day of the year and begins around 21 June on the astronomical calendar.
