The Chapel – Kilfinan
Kilfinan, Argyll and Bute
Blessed with the most glorious views over glistening Loch Fyne, The Chapel - Kilfinan sits in an elevated position, not far from the water’s edge. The beautifully restored building was once a ‘Wee Free’ church, but pews have been swapped for home comforts and sympathetic interior design.
Guests can now enjoy gazing out through the church windows at the surrounding distant mountains; a panorama which will have remained largely unchanged since the congregation sat in the same spot years previously.

Dove Chapel
Braunton (2.5mls SE), Devon
Another converted chapel with enviable views is Dove Chapel in the coastal village of Braunton, Devon. Its beautifully designed interior gracefully incorporates vestiges of its former role, with benches fashioned from original pews, and the old lectern now a bookcase.
Contemporary additions to the original stone building incorporate stunning bifold doors, beyond which a lush rural landscape drops down to the River Taw and continues on into the distance. What a sight to admire over your morning coffee!

The Chapel at Fold Farm
Hartington (1.5mls NW), Peak District
A handsome, historic construction of honey-hued stone, The Chapel at Fold Farm has lost nothing of its ecclesiastical charm. Step through the beautiful wooden church doors, however, and you’ll find an exquisitely converted interior, with a sleek kitchen, crackling wood burner, feature staircase and magnificent bedrooms.
Original features blend imperceptibly with the new; light floods in through the impressive arched windows, and each design choice is considered and executed to perfection. A true gem for those seeking something out of the ordinary.

Ulceby Old Chapel
Alford (3mls NE), Lincolnshire
Feast your eyes upon the charming exterior of this red-brick former chapel. As cute as a button on the outside, what awaits behind its wooden entrance door is equally alluring. Downstairs, an open-plan layout makes the most of the space which would have once echoed with joyful hymns, while tucked away in the eves, the two cosy bedrooms promise a restful night’s sleep.
Glide around the spacious kitchen, preparing delicious meals to serve up in the dining area beneath the stylish Eddison lights, and when the day is done, soak away your troubles in the luxurious freestanding bath. A little building which once brought solace to the residents of Ulceby, this characterful chapel now instils calm in its lucky holiday guests.

Kilchattan Church
Isle of Bute (6mls N), Argyll and Bute
Technically a church, not a chapel, Kilchattan Church is a stunning conversion which wholeheartedly embraces its heritage, while showcasing an impressive array of contemporary features. Each room elicits a gasp as guests take in highlights such as the leaded arched windows, the luxurious panelled lounge (one of two), a pair of kitchens, a roll-top bath and even a sauna.
As if those weren’t enough, this former place of worship also offers a games room, equipped with a wood burner, bar and pool table. Where weddings were once joyously performed, celebrations of all kinds can now be enjoyed, surrounded by family and friends in this superb property.
