Movie Buffs

Northumberland is the place to be for cinema goers and movie magic. If your family is a bunch of film fanatics, then the North East’s picturesque countryside should be at the top of your list. Settle down in your cosy cottage by the fireplace at night, and visit mystical movie sets by day. Take a trip to Bamburgh Castle, where you can visit a location used for Roald Dahl’s The BFG, and an epic fight scene in Transformers: The Last Knight. Harry Potter fans should also take a trip to Alnwick Castle (closed for until March 2018) where you’ll be able to try your hand at flying a broomstick in the same spot that Harry had his first lesson - your next claim to fame?

Dinosaur Lovers

Set your mini-dinosaurs free on the breath taking beaches, seafronts and coves of the Jurassic Coast, Dorset. Head on over to the Dinosaur Museum in Dorchester where you’ll get to see real dinosaur skeletons, eggs, and fossils. You should also check out Mighty Claws Adventure Golf, or the Corfe 4 Kids Treasure Trail where you’ll find extra doses of dinosaur fun.

Book Worms

If you’re a family of avid book readers then Oxfordshire should be the next chapter in your holiday adventures. Come and discover The Story Museum where the words jump off the page and books come to life. Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, and C.S Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia were both influenced by the city of Oxford. Now it’s your families turn to be inspired by the city’s famous dreaming spires.

Woodland Walkers

If your family loves the outdoors, then Nottinghamshire is the ideal location for your next holiday. Take your family through Sherwood Forest Country Park where they can learn about the fascinating and fun adventures of the iconic Robin Hood, whilst exploring some epic woodlands too.

History Hunters

If it’s history that you’re after, you should take your family to Edinburgh and the Lothians. After waking up in your snug and homely cottage, spend a day at the National Museum of Scotland. After that, consider taking a trip to the iconic Edinburgh Castle and discover over one thousand years of Scottish history.

Thrill Seekers

Feeling brave? Pembrokeshire is the place to visit if your family thrives on adrenaline. Make sure to visit Oakwood Theme Park in Narberth where you’ll get to whizz around on a rollercoaster that gets up to speeds of 56mph. You should also visit Celtic Quest Coasteering, where you and your children can take part in expert led cliff jumps from as high as 35ft.

Royal Families

If you’re looking for a holiday fit for royalty, then Buckinghamshire has a horse and carriage waiting for you. Visit the stunning Waddesdon Manor once built for a 19th-century baron. With an exotic aviary and beautiful gardens there is enough to keep little princes and princesses happy. You should also stop off at Bekonscot Model Village, an attraction that we hear is popular with the royal family themselves.

Sea-side Sailors

If you want a holiday by the sea then pack your bags and head to Norfolk. With great beach resort towns and traditional fishing villages, this the perfect spot for wannabe sailors and practicing pirates. Dive into the Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary and meet over two thousand sea creatures. Make sure to also visit Pleasure Beach, or hop aboard Bishops Boats Seal Trips, where you can all dip your toes into the big blue sea.

Pet People

One of the best things about a staycation is that your four-legged friends can often come along too, in which case you’ll want to head for Yorkshire! Take your little terriers, cocker-spaniels and dogs to the dales for a fantastic family holiday. Travel with your pet to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield where you’ll both be allowed to roam the grounds whilst enjoying the stunning scenery. You should also head over to Norfolk Heritage Park, in Sheffield, where you can explore thirty acres of a Victorian park.

Circus Acts

If you’re looking for a holiday filled with drama, performances and action then Lancashire is the stage for you. Take a trip to see Mooky and Mr Boo at th Blackpool Tower Circus where you can watch performers do all kinds of amazing feats. You can even get up close with A-list celebrities if you visit Madame Tussauds in Blackpool, including: Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, and even the Queen! Why not see who can snap the most impressive celebrity selfie?
