Create an Easter basket

Create a basket

As every seasoned egg hunter knows, an Easter basket is essential for collecting lots of chocolatey treasure. If you and your little chicks are feeling crafty, then why not have a go at creating your own? Think colourful cardboard, pom-poms, bows, ribbons, felt and lots and lots of glitter! Don’t panic if you don’t have the time or supplies for baskets, a humble bowl or paper bag will do; it’s what’s inside that most definitely counts here! If you'd like a template to print and colour, we've found one here courtesy of kidspot.

Decorate Easter eggs

Prepare your eggs

Next, you need to decide what kind of Easter treats you’d like to hide. Those with a sweet tooth might like to opt for traditional chocolate Easter eggs of all shapes and sizes, or you could get creative and fill some hollow plastic egg containers with an assortment of sweets, stickers, toys, jokes, money, and other small prizes that children will enjoy.

Alternatively, you could use real, hard-boiled eggs which the kids can decorate beforehand with paint, crayons, felt tip pens, sequins and glitter, and you can create a special prize for the child who finds the most during the trail.

Ready, set, hunt!

All you need to do now is choose your first clue and give it to your little one - then hide the second one at the location their clue points to. When they get there, the next clue will be waiting ready to lead them on around the trail. For added Easter Bunny points, you could leave silly extra notes at each clue point such as ‘Do 5 star jumps on the spot’, or ‘Cluck like a chicken for 30 seconds’.

Top tip: If you’ve got a dog and you’re hiding chocolate eggs, make sure you keep them indoors during your Easter egg hunt. We can guarantee they’ll be better at finding them than you!
