Event catering in Dorset – holidaycottages.co.uk blogger event

For a lot of people, food is one of the most important things to consider when planning a holiday, especially in a region where there are so many tasty delights. Of course when you’re planning a weekend away for 12 food bloggers, it’s also pretty important!

Here at holidaycottages.co.uk we are still dreaming of all the delicious food we enjoyed during our recent blogger event in Dorset. We hosted 12 food bloggers at one of our large cottages, Ranmoor, holding a food-filled break with all kinds of local produce from Dorset based companies.

Three course meal with Dorset Fine Dining

The Friday night was a real treat! We had arranged for Nick and his team from Dorset Fine Dining to come to the house to prepare a mouth-watering three course meal. Bringing everything they needed with them, they took over the huge kitchen and got to work. Meanwhile our bloggers relaxed on the on the sofas in the huge living room, anticipating the meal they were about to be served.

While Nick was busy in the kitchen, we were served Furleigh Estate sparkling wine by one of the waitresses, which slid down wonderfully as we took our seats at the huge dining room table. There was lots of excitement as the starters were served, plates of well-presented tasty food appeared, but before we could get stuck in, photos had to be taken! If you were following the #HCBloggerTrip on twitter or Instagram, you’ll have seen a lot of stunning foodie photos.

Just to make your mouths water, this is what was on the menu!

STARTERS

Feta and fresh mint pastilla, honey yoghurt
or
Home beetroot cured salmon, crème fraiche, wasabi, cress

MAINS

Slow roasted belly of Dorset free range pork, apple sauce, airbag crackling, bubble and squeak, rich cider gravy
or
Moroccan chick pea and aubergine stew with Israeli couscous

DESSERTS

Buttermilk and vanilla panna cotta, raspberry textures, ginger crumble
or
Chocolate eclair, mocha custard, dark chocolate sauce, gold leaf

The service from Nick and the team was absolutely fantastic and it meant we didn’t have to lift a finger. Clearing away our plates, re-filling our glasses and providing absolutely delicious food all evening! It’s safe to say, there were 12 very happy food bloggers. What a fantastic idea? It’s not something I’ve thought of doing before but if you’re staying in a huge property like Ranmoor, it’s a great way to mark a special occasion.

Afternoon tea from BethellBridge Bakery

Saturday afternoon was a similar affair, Lisa and Lisa from BethellBridge Bakery set up a beautiful afternoon tea at the cottage complete with lemon cake, coffee cake, Victoria sponge, cupcakes and an assortment of sandwiches. There was of course scones, cream and jam, which sparked the cream or jam first debate – and also the correct way to say scone!

BethellBridge brought everything with them from the vintage cups and teapots to the tablecloths, cake stands and all the food! They transformed the dining room into a vintage tea party which the bloggers were in awe of as they returned from their day out.

What makes an afternoon tea like this so special, is the fact that all of the cakes had been homemade by BethellBridge and they were delicious. That’s not all BethellBridge Bakery do though, their services include hampers packed with Dorset produce, cupcakes for corporate events, buffets and catering for a range of different events from business lunches, to private parties. You can also order individual cakes for them – ideal if you’re celebrating with a party!
