Abergavenny Food Festival

Date: 17-18 September 2022

Location: Six venues across Abergavenny

Highlights: Live cooking demos from some big-name chefs

If you’re a self-described foodie, you won’t want to miss one of the finest food and drink festivals in Wales. Described as “to food what Cannes is to film”, Abergavenny Food Festival boasts over 100 stalls as well as demonstrations, feasts and debates. Held across six lovely venues in pretty Abergavenny, this festival books up quickly, and tickets are only available in advance, so make sure you plan ahead.

Cardiff International Food and Drink Festival  

Date: 1-3 July 2022

Location: Roald Dahl Plass, Cardiff, CF10 4PZ

Highlights: An unrivalled roster of chefs

The wonderful capital city of Wales hosts the mother and father of all national food festivals, attracting international stars from TV and the world’s top restaurants. Drawing in thousands of guests, Cardiff International Food and Drink Festival is one of the most diverse and interactive food and drink events in the UK. Taking place in July, this is a great show for those who love open-air events with live music too. Sample food from a massive range of international, national and local food and drink producers. You will go home with a full belly!

Lampeter Food Festival

Date: 23 July 2022

Location: Lampeter University, Lampeter, SA48 7ED

Highlights: Chilli!

Located at Wales’ oldest and perhaps most remote university, Lampeter Food Festival takes place each July. It’s quite the event that transforms this small mountain town into a hive of activity for foodies. If you like chilli sauces and other related condiments, then this food festival is worth putting on your calendar. Beefed up with live cooking demonstrations and PAs by local chefs from highly regarded pubs and restaurants in the Lampeter area, you won’t go home hungry.

Caerphilly Food Festival 

Date: 7 May 2022

Location: Caerphilly, CF83 1XY

Highlights: The local cheese - where better to sample authentic Caerphilly?!

For one day each May, Caerphilly Town Centre becomes a buzzing marketplace. At Caerphilly Food Festival, around 100 stalls vie for visitor’s attention with enchanting aromas, sizzling meats, spicy vegetables, fresh fish and all kinds of culinary exotica. Also, to complement the food, you'll find a large choice of Welsh craft and activity stalls - not to be missed!

Brecon Food Festival 

Date: TBC - usually in October

Location: Brecon Indoor Market, Brecon, LD3 7LF

Highlights: The choice of beer and cider on offer.

Arriving late in the annual calendar, the Brecon Food Festival occurs in October. Having been in existence for over 20 years, it’s also one of Wales' longest continuous running food festivals. Meet dozens of fresh food providers from Wales and beyond, offering a cornucopia of interesting and tasty food and drink for you to try in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. There’s a fine programme of talks and live demonstrations followed by a programme of musical events.

Anglesey Food Festival 

Date: TBC

Location: Anglesey Showground, Holyhead, L65 4RW

Highlights: The chance to sample regional Welsh food from Anglesey

The Anglesey Food Festival takes place each May at the Anglesey Showground. It’s a vast array of fun food and drink stores, experiments, workshops and demonstrations. Meet local fishermen and farmers and sample the very best local food and drink from all over Anglesey and North Wales.

Aberystwyth Street Food Festival  

Date: 22-24 July 2022

Location: Aberystwyth Marina, Y Lanfa, SY23 1AS

Highlights: The endless international food sensations to choose from

Street food is something else! Bringing delicious tastes together from all around the world to Aberystwyth is something to celebrate. From fresh stone-baked pizza from Italy to mouth-watering Japanese sushi, and American hot dogs and Asian curries, go and discover an enormous, exciting choice of food from across the globe at Aberystwyth Street Food Festival, followed by a cool pint of craft beer or an alcoholic fruit cocktail with crushed ice. Aberystwyth also hosts a larger food and drink festival too that can be found on Baker Street each September. And, if you can't get enough of street food, there are three similar events across Wales, held in Swansea, Milford Haven and Tenby.

Caernarfon Food and Drink Festival  

Date: 14 May 2022

Location: Castle Square, Caernarfon, LL55 2NF

Highlights: A fun day out for all the family, with face painting and rides for kids

With a whole bunch of food and drink vendors packing out the town square, you definitely won’t be going back to your self-catering cottage empty-handed. Visit the Caernarfon Food Festival for lively cooking demonstrations, freshly cooked street food, and fun activities for the whole family. Sample delicious dishes from Welsh chefs and enjoy wandering through the town’s narrow cobbled streets. Look out for stalls selling local cheeses, real craft ale, chocolate, jams, olives and baked goods.
