From the peaks of Eryri National Park to the harbour towns of Conwy and the hills of Flintshire, our guests love to holiday in North Wales, which is why we’re excited to be partnering with Go North Wales to launch the Community Fund Initiative.
Supporting the regional groups that make North Wales so special, the Community Fund Initiative invites local charities and community organisations to apply for one of three £1,000 funds to support their important, ongoing efforts in the local area.
The holidaycottages.co.uk and Go North Wales partnership is a special one thanks to the values we share in supporting not only the communities of North Wales, but the local environment and economy too. Read on to learn more about our passion for sustainable tourism and how you can apply for the Community Fund Initiative.

Our commitment to supporting regional communities
With over 14,000 properties dotted around the UK and Ireland, holidaycottages.co.uk is always growing, and so is our commitment to supporting the communities that make our holiday destinations so special. Whether through environmental initiatives or supporting local charities and businesses; we’re committed to making a positive impact through responsible tourism.
“As a business, we know we have a responsibility to be more sustainable, both in the way we do business and in the way we help guests enjoy the beauty of the UK. We’re committed to continuing to try and do better wherever we can, focusing on reducing any negative social and environmental impact wherever possible.” – Jayne McClure, Travel Chapter CEO
Through our partnership with Go North Wales, we’re excited to continue our mission of becoming a more responsible and sustainable business. We strive to empower our holiday homeowners in the region to make more sustainable choices, and we look forward to learning all about the important local charities and community organisations that create such positive change across North Wales!
Sustainable tourism in North Wales: Our track record
Although our partnership with Go North Wales is only just beginning, this is by no means the start of our journey in supporting communities across North Wales. Over the last few years, we’re proud to have supported some fantastic local charities and groups that continue to leave a lasting, positive impact across the region…
In July 2023, and again in January 2024, holidaycottages.co.uk partnered with The Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team who offer invaluable search and rescue services across North West Wales. So many of our guests enjoy outdoor, active holidays in the area, so this was a special sponsorship to be involved in.

Our funding contributed to new digital radios for the rescue team, not only enhancing their own communications during emergency responses, but allowing them to effectively collaborate with other emergency services.
Elsewhere in North Wales, we are proud of our continued support for Trash Free Trails; a fast-growing community dedicated to reconnecting locals with nature by removing single-use pollution from walking trails and other wild spaces.

As part of our sponsorship, we support Trash Free Trails’ youth engagement project – Trash Mob Academy. Aimed at empowering the youth of North Wales through outdoor activities like mountain biking and trail cleaning, our funds support a 6-week school program that teaches students riding skills, encourages environmental attitudes, reconnects them with nature, and improves self-esteem.
