The Fish House Fistral

Cornwall’s excellent seafood, golden beaches and rolling waves combine into one at The Fish House Fistral. Overlooking Fistral Beach – the heart of Newquay’s surf scene – this is one of the best restaurants in Newquay thanks to the wide choice of succulent seafood sourced directly from Newquay Harbour. 

Founder and head chef, Paul Harwood, trained under Rick Stein for almost 15 years, and his experience is made evident by the quality of food and presentation. From the menu, choose from seafood sharing boards, fresh fish chowders, moules marinière, fish curries, tempura and plenty more.

Rosa Newquay

Italian-inspired cuisine meets mini golf at Rosa Newquay, offering an indulgent and quirky experience for couples and families alike. One of the most popular restaurants in Newquay, this trendy eatery has come a long way since first opening its mini golf course in 1962. 

Earn an appetite as you play a round of 18 holes before heading inside to uncover a buzzing venue plating pasta and pizza dishes fit for an Instagram feed. From the menu, choose from nibbles to share with drinks, steaming plates of pasta that include pork ragu and sausage paccheri, and stone-baked pizzas with all things pepperoni, hot honey and mascarpone waiting to be savoured.

Feather Restaurant and Cocktail Bar

Nestled in the heart of Newquay, just metres from the town’s sandy beach, the Newquay Beach Hotel plays host to the Feather Restaurant and Cocktail Bar. Of all the Newquay restaurants, if it’s chic interiors, succulent food and ocean vistas you’re craving, then this is the spot for you.

Red Lion Newquay

Pubs in Newquay don’t get much better than the Red Lion, which perches at the end of Newquay Beach in the centre of town. With a charming façade and even better views, this locals’ watering hole is the place to be for regional beer and live music. But most importantly, it’s one of the best places to eat in Newquay if you’re craving classic pub grub with a seaside spin. 

On the Red Lion’s main menu, you’ll find a wide choice of starters, sharing platters perfect for two, towering burgers served in glazed buns and of course, fish platters aplenty – choose from seafood sharers, grilled sea bass, classic fish and chips, fish ciabatta and many more dishes from the ocean.

The Fort Inn

The Central Inn

If you’re looking for places to eat in Newquay and find yourself in the centre of town, The Central Inn does exactly what it says on the tin – a convenient location, excellent local beer and even better food! Opt to sit and dine in the sleek interior or watch life buzz by as you tuck into hearty dishes on the pub’s outdoor terrace.

Flounders Fish and Chips

If you’re mooching through the town’s high street and fancy a portion of classic Newquay fish and chips, then Flounders Fish and Chips is ready and waiting. With café-style seating inside, outdoor picnic benches and the option to take away and dine alfresco on the beach, you couldn’t find a more typical Cornish chippy. 

From the menu, choose from battered classics like cod, haddock, wholetail scampi and steaming fishcakes. For something a little different, a wide range of burgers, pies, breaded chicken and even box meal deals await. Bringing the little ones along? The Kids Box Meal combines chicken nuggets, cod bites, fishcakes, chips and a bottle of juice.

The Cod End Fish and Chips

Planning a bucket-and-spade day on the beach and don’t fancy walking far for a portion of Newquay fish and chips? Look no further than The Cod End. This family-run chippy has served tourists and locals alike since 2005 and even boasts a secret batter recipe handed down over generations of family fryers. 

Use their takeaway service to wrap up your seaside goodies before walking back to the beach with hot hands full of steaming delights. On the menu, you’ll find Icelandic cod and haddock – battered and served with chips and your choice of mushy peas, curry sauce or gravy. Diners can also choose from beefy burgers, jumbo sausages, pies, veggie dishes and much more.

Truscotts Fish Bar

With a history of serving Newquay fish and chips that stretches back over 40 years, Truscotts Fish Bar is one of the best chippies in town thanks to its generous menu and prime position close to golden Newquay Beach. 

There are no tables here, meaning this is one of the best places to eat in Newquay if you fancy something quick and tasty on the go.
