A cottage in the Lake District is a wonderful opportunity to witness the changing colours of the seasons amongst some of the UK's most spectacular scenery. Three Mile House Lake District

When you think of the quintessential Lake District house, this is it. A spacious Georgian sash-windowed farmhouse in the Yorkshire Dales and less than 10 miles from the Lake District, you have the best of both worlds for ample dog-walking adventures. A warming interior with roaring wood burners and heritage leather sofas welcomes weary walkers back from days at the lakes, while a majestic conservatory is a perfect place for lazy hounds to catch the sun.

Bramblewick Lake District

A fairytale cottage in an idyllic setting, this contemporary yet traditional property makes an ideal weekend escape to the Lakes for a couple and their two holidaying hounds. It looks like a cabin in the woods, yet its beautifully designed interior with fresh pastels and plush furnishings give it a luxury feel. It's only 5 miles from the famous Lake Windermere, so dog-friendly lake cruises and riverside walks are just a short car drive away.

Arresting View Lake District

The clue is in the name at this gorgeous stone cottage in Hawkshead. Set in a converted courthouse and police station, it boasts views across to the stunning Claife Heights - also a lovely spot for a dog walk with its pup-friendly viewing station over Lake Windermere. It's close to Coniston Water too, where you can hop aboard a steamer to see the lakes; it really is in the heart of some wonderful walking country.

Lyme Cottage Lake District

Situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, this quaint cottage sleeping two adults and one lucky dog makes a uniquely stylish romantic retreat. Chocolate box on the outside, warm and cosy on the inside with traditional heritage design and roaring wood burner, it is only 6 miles from beautiful Lake Windermere and its plethora of waterside dog-walking opportunities.

All that amazing green space is on offer for eight guests and up to four country-loving dogs. Situated on a sheep farm in the South Lakes, this stone and glass delight boasts stunning views in all directions - take the bridle path from the end of the garden to Coniston Fells or hop in the car down to Silecroft beach for a run along the sands and a spot of wave jumping. On the edge of the Lake District National Park and a short drive away from the southern shores of Lake Windermere, this delightful stone cottage makes the perfect retreat for a small family and their dog. As pretty as can be, you will have trouble choosing your favourite room - will it be the single bunny room with its hints to Beatrix Potter, the luxurious bathroom with its beautiful mosaic tiles and roll-top bath or the cosy sitting room with its warming wood burner?
