The kitchens you'll want to cook in

Imagine you’re surrounded by your favourite people; wine chilling in the fridge, beers in the ice bucket, delicious scents filling your nostrils and tantalising your tastebuds.

If you’re anything like us, you’ll love to cook up a treat and make the most of your kitchen while on a self-catering holiday. But, first and foremost, you’ll need a suitable space in which to host your dining experience.

We’ve found six kitchens that will entice you to get the apron on, fire up the oven and cook up a storm.

Ludlow Barn, Shropshire

The house designed to entertain, with a large round dining table and plenty of room for socialising. Pull up a chair at the breakfast bar in this stylish kitchen whilst you prep your canapés and then make the most of its brilliant amenities. Nigella Lawson also recently graced this kitchen for one of her delicious shows, and if it’s good enough for Nigella it’s good enough for us.

Bay Point House, North Wales

Whilst the kitchen of Bay Point House is truly beautiful, it’s the splendid dining room that takes centre stage. With a wood burner nestled in the corner, it’s a wonderful room to prepare and enjoy a meal together. Generous in space and flooded with natural light you won’t want to eat out when you have this contemporary kitchen at your disposal.

Little Cotswolds Cottage, Costwolds

What it lacks in space it makes up for in country charm and beauty. The kitchen in the Little Cotswolds Cottage is full of textures and details to make you swoon. One of our favourite features is the mini Belfast-style sink complete with a copper tap, it makes washing up much more appealing. Make sure you fix yourself up some comfort food at the tea and toast station tucked away in a wooden cubby hole, before you settle by the fire.

Rose Farm House, South Devon

Welcome to the kitchen of dreams. This homely room is very much the heart of the house, featuring a gas Aga and American style fridge/freezer to help you host the masses. Rose Farm House is a charming country home that sleeps 12 and has its own snug room for you to nurse yourself out of a food coma. It's also show in the header image.

The Hoe Cottage, North Devon

Bright and airy, the kitchen of The Hoe Cottage is a room with a view. The kitchen is open plan, with bi-folding doors that open onto a balcony overlooking Lynmouth Bay. This lodge style house is beautiful throughout, but the kitchen is bound to be your favourite room if you appreciate wine as it features an impressive, fully stocked cellar.

Golden Cross Farmhouse, Cotswolds

Hosting 15 guests is almost easy when you have this chic kitchen at your disposal. Experience cooking on a traditional Aga (with electric oven as back up), while the large beamed kitchen adds to the relaxed feeling of the three-storey Georgian farmhouse. Stunning countryside views in all directions mean you’ll want to sit to the table all evening, whiling the time away with captivating conversation.
