The Family Collection

Number Nine Regent Parade

Number Nine Regent Parade, Harrogate

Sleeps 4

Why we love it:

This stylishly designed ground-floor period property provides a spacious stay for a family of four. Lounge on one of three sofas or relax in the rear enclosed courtyard garden – a real suntrap. This property on the edge of Harrogate town centre overlooks the 200-acre parkland known as The Stray, which links the town’s curative springs and wells. Speaking of therapeutic waters, the spa and Turkish Baths could be the perfect place to treat older children to a pampering session.

Why our guests love it:

Very comfortable, larger than expected. Comfy beds and very quiet despite proximity to the road. Seek out the excellent coffee place just around the corner.” David

The Mistal – Masham

The Mistal – Masham, Yorkshire Dales

Sleeps 6 + 2 dogs

Why we love it:

Young children will adore the idea of sleeping in a former cowshed. But that mustn’t put off the grown-ups, as this 5-star renovated farm cottage, on the grounds of a Grade II-listed 18th-century corn mill, will provide a luxurious home away from home that will be hard to forget. Unwind in the enclosed courtyard garden or have a stint between the posts as you play football with the kids. There are swings and other outdoor toys too, or you may prefer to supervise the children around the 4.5-acre grounds and mill pond.

Why our guests love it:

Had a lovely four nights at this beautiful cottage. It is furnished immaculately and was spotlessly clean. There were lots of thoughtful touches, such as fresh eggs and a bottle of milk, even a roll of kitchen towels (something you often forget to pack but always need!). The welcome hamper was amazing, and the homemade cake was demolished in no time. Dogs really are welcome too, with special dog towels and warm water outside for washing paws. The contained courtyard and wider grounds were great.” Rachel

Emley View Cottage

Emley View Cottage, Holmfirth

Sleeps 4

Why we love it:

Enjoy the best of both worlds at this characterful rural property in the Peak District. Whether you want to strap on your hiking boots and head outdoors exploring the picturesque Holme Valley and the Peak District National Park with the kids in tow, or you just want to kick back indoors and relax in the heated swimming pool and sauna, the choice is yours. If your children are a little older, perhaps you can take advantage of Holmfirth’s more adventurous side, with caving, hang gliding, and mountain biking on offer.

Why our guests love it:

Great family stay, perfect if you like walking as there are plenty of trails on your doorstep. Facilities are great and the pool is useful if the weather isn't great! Garden an ideal enclosed space for little kids. Very quiet location. We drove to some local parks ideal for kids, Beaumont Park and Greenhead Park, parking on the roadside was easy and kids loved it!” Kayleigh

Our second visit after so enjoying the first last year. The accommodation is perfect for a small family, spotlessly clean and well equipped. In a quiet location yet only a 10-minute walk to Saundersfoot town.” Andrew

Instow - Tarka Sands

Instow - Tarka Sands, Instow

Sleeps 4

Why we love it:

North Devon is a fabulous holiday destination for those with children, and Instow is no exception. This coastal apartment sits moments from the estuary and enjoys a pleasant patio and garden adjacent to the renowned Tarka Trail cycle path. Pop the kids’ helmets on and head out for a bike ride or slip on some sandals and climb the dunes of Instow Beach, before hopping on the local ferry over to the fishing village of Appledore. When you return, you can throw open the patio doors, sit on the comfy sofa and watch the boats bob on the water.

Why our guests love it:

This is a real, quality two-bedroom, two-shower room property in a perfectly quiet location, yet immediately by all facilities. Very well equipped and tastefully decorated. Its location is right on the Tarka Trail in Instow, within 50 yards of the estuary. A lovely patio area outside the property was very useful as it gave shelter from the chilly breeze but allowed you to sit outside comfortably looking out over the water with a glass of wine in the evening. Highly recommended.” Keith

The Forge - Nempnett Thrubwell

The Forge - Nempnett Thrubwell, Cheddar

Sleeps 4

Why we love it:

When staying in this detached barn, you’ll relish relaxing in the stunning open-plan living area downstairs with its exposed beams and oak flooring, and when the day is done, the master bedroom with its vaulted ceiling and roof windows beckons you for a good night’s sleep. In the morning, allow time to stand still as you sit on the patio and take in the view of Blagdon Lake and the rolling countryside beyond. After heaving a sigh of contentment, head to the enclosed garden and challenge the kids to a game of croquet or badminton.

Why our guests love it:

Beautiful lodge in a beautiful location. The view of the lake is amazing and it’s so quiet and peaceful. Lovely walks. We found a small park and saw horses, which my daughters loved. We also had a trip to the Mendip Activity Centre for Frisbee Golf, a walk at Cheddar Gorge and a trip to Puxton Park and the beautiful Wells. Lots to do. We’d love to stay again. Helpful, friendly owners. Thank you!” Naomi

Abbey Cottage – Cerne Abbas

Abbey Cottage – Cerne Abbas, Dorset

Sleeps 5 + 2 dogs

Why we love it:

This spacious semi-detached property in the picture-postcard village of Cerne Abbas benefits from large living spaces and bedrooms, and even more capacious enclosed gardens. You can cosy up in front of the wood burner with a good book, safe in the knowledge that the kids are contained within either the front or the rear lawn. When it comes to venturing out, you and the kids are spoiled for choice, with the somewhat controversial Cerne Giant nearby and, a little further afield, the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, perfect for budding fossil hunters.

Why our guests love it:

Perfect cottage and location. So peaceful and quiet with just birdsong and the sound of a small stream behind the back fence of the garden. Good local well-stocked shop. This village is where my family come from, and it is just so untouched after all these years. The cottage is perfect for a family with a decent open-plan kitchen/eating area and two very large double rooms and a single. Hope to visit again.” Marie
