Charity and Sponsorship

Home to seaside towns, sandy beaches, and the UK’s only coastal national park, Pembrokeshire offers a charming holiday destination and one that we know our guests love to visit. That’s why we’re excited to be partnering with Visit Pembrokeshire to launch the Community Fund Initiative.

Supporting local groups that make Pembrokeshire so special, the initiative invites charities and community organisations that benefit the region to apply for one of three £1,000 funds to support their important, ongoing efforts.

Following the success of our Go North Wales Community Fund, the Visit Pembrokeshire partnership combines a shared passion for supporting not only the region’s communities, but its local environments and economies too. Read on to learn more about our commitment to responsible tourism and how you can apply for the Visit Pembrokeshire Community Fund.

Supporting communities across the UK

At holidaycottages.co.uk, we’re proud to support communities across the British Isles by celebrating the local environments and economies that make holiday destinations so unique. With over 15,000 properties across the UK and Ireland, we understand the importance of giving back to these regions.

“We know we have a responsibility to be more sustainable, both in the way we do business and in the way we help guests enjoy the beauty of the UK. We’re committed to continuing to try and do better wherever we can, focusing on reducing any negative social and environmental impact wherever possible.” – Jayne McClure, Travel Chapter CEO

Through the Visit Pembrokeshire partnership, combined with our ongoing efforts across Wales, we’re excited to continue our journey towards being a more responsible and sustainable business – and we look forward to hearing from the local organisations that make such a difference in Pembrokeshire.

Our track record in Wales

Our partnership with Visit Pembrokeshire is by no means the start of our journey in supporting communities across Wales. In fact, we’re proud to have provided funding to many important charities and groups across the country in the last few years…

In 2024, we joined forces with Go North Wales to launch the North Wales Community Fund, which – much like the Visit Pembrokeshire Community Fund – invited local organisations that make North Wales so special to apply for one of three £1,000 funds.

After hearing from groups across the region, we were delighted to announce the three winners:

  • Harlech Community Orchard Project
  • North Wales Crusaders Wheelchair Rugby League and Disability Sports Association
  • Friends of Mostyn Street and FOMS Kidz

Elsewhere in Wales, in July 2023 and again in January 2024, we were proud to support the Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team, who offer invaluable search and rescue services across North West Wales.

Our sponsorship funded state-of-the-art digital radios, significantly improving the rescue team’s communications during emergency responses. These advanced tools also enhance coordination with other emergency services, ensuring safer and more efficient operations.

The Trash Free Trails charity gathered on bikes and on foot for an aerial photo.

We’re also proud of our ongoing support for Trash Free Trails, a passionate community in North Wales dedicated to reconnecting people with nature by tackling single-use pollution on footpaths and across outdoor spaces.

Our sponsorship offers funding for the charity’s youth engagement project – Trash Mob Academy. Empowering locals through outdoor activities, our funds support a 6-week school program that teaches students riding skills, encourages environmental attitudes, and improves self-esteem.
