Charming single-storey cottage tucked away in the quaint village of Metherell, an ideal place to stay for anyone seeking a peaceful break

Located on the border of Cornwall and Devon, this is an ideal base for touring both the north and south coasts and all the many treasures in between. From your doorstep there are a host of walks that lead you through the Tamar Valley, with its World Heritage status, and the rugged Dartmoor National Park. Cotehele National Trust property is less than a mile away. The historic town of Tavistock with its pannier market isn't far away and offers a wealth of restaurants, pubs, shops as well as cinema and swimming pool.

On entering this spacious single-storey property, which is located next to the Owners Georgian Country Home, you will be greeted with the beautiful wooden panelling and exposed beams and will find yourself in the inviting lounge/kitchen/dining area. You can relax in the cosy and welcoming lounge, with TV/DVD and snuggle up in front of the charming traditional wood burner. The dining area is pleasantly situated by the double French doors which lead out onto the patio. Moving across to the kitchen, you will find everything you will need including an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine. Just off the lounge/kitchen/diner you will find the comfy double bedroom complete with TV and en-suite shower room with WC.

Stepping outside from the living area, you can relax and unwind in the delightful enclosed garden with patio area, garden furniture and BBQ. You will also have access to the large shared exercise paddock for pets, and even a hot and cold outdoor shower for dogs. There is ample off-road parking available just outside the cottage for cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

It was perfect for us as a couple wanting a relaxing break with our dog. The owners were friendly and helpful but never intrusive. The extra outside space for our dog was brilliant.

Lovely light clean accomodation, comfortable bed excellent shower. Well situated to explore the surrounding areas. Within walking distance of Cotehele NT property. Welcoming pub 5mins walk away which served lovely food.

As the accommodation was built specifically for the purpose of holiday letting it ticks virtually ever box. The property is excellent for natural light and the immediate surroundings are green and verdant. Although next to the house the cottage is private and the hosts friendly and helpful without being in any way imposing. We have just returned from a delightful week at The Lantern with our 2 small dogs. We had an amazing restful week and so nice to wake hearing birds singing. The Lantern had all we needed fora get away from it all holiday, yes it really is down a track, yet 15 mins away from towns but hey the scenery around here....
