The grounds of Marwood are beautiful, and abound with trees, shrubs, flowering plants and wildlife; but, this comes at a cost. It is very isolated. There are few shops, pubs and eating places, so a local walk is out of the question for an evening meal. This means travelling to either Barnstaple or Ilfracombe along narrow lanes [with passing places]Read more and winding B Class roads. So, consideration needs to given to ones preferences - beautiful isolation or self-catering! Hide

Great location - we loved having access to the gardens (especially in the evenings when we had them to ourselves) and being able to pop to the tea shop for coffee/cake etc. Plus only a short, and v scenic, drive (20 mins) to all the lovely beaches. The flat itself was v clean, spacious and well equipped - with amazing views from the lounge. We had Read morethe bedroom set up as 2 twins and I found the bed quite uncomfortable - would go for the double set up next time. Can definitely recommend. Hide

The Marwood Hill Garden Apartment is in a lovely location. The lounge/diner overlooks the lovely gardens. We had our dog with us and it was lovely to be able to walk the dog in the gardens whenever we wanted to. The gardens are beautiful and very enjoyable to investigate and look at all the different species of plants and trees. The only downside wRead moreas that the bedroom had a very strong musty smell. If this could be dealt with then I would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment. Hide

Great, peaceful location, fabulous gardens, a perfect retreat for 2...and a little dog ! Negotiating traffic around single track country roads, with giant farm machinery in transit and few passing places was the only downside !
