Traditional terraced cottage located in the attractive fishing village of Appledore, just a short walk from the waterfront and village amenities including shops and eateries.

This property is located in the lovely fishing village of Appledore, with its quaint narrow streets, attractive village quay where local fishermen can be seen returning with the day’s catch, and choice of pubs and restaurants. Visitors can take the ferry across the estuary, taking them to the neighbouring village of Instow, where they will find the yacht club and a small, pretty beach. For a larger beach, Westward Ho! is just a few minutes’ drive away, and boasts a wonderful two-mile wide sandy beach, complete with surf academy. This beach is backed by Northam Burrows Country Park, a wildlife-rich area of sand dunes and salt marshes which makes a pleasant place for a quiet walk.

The front door of this cottage opens directly into the welcoming lounge/diner, where the exposed beams, and warming wood burner help to create a lovely cosy atmosphere. However, guests can still enjoy modern conveniences, such as the TV/DVD, which can be enjoyed from the comfortable sofa. The property’s kitchen, though modest in size, is both stylish and well-equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, and washing machine. There is even a breakfast bar-style table and stools here, perfect for enjoying coffee in the mornings. The shower room is also on the ground floor, with its shower cubicle and WC. Open-tread wooden stairs lead from the lounge up to the first floor, where there are two bedrooms. The first room has a double bed, as well as plenty of storage space in the form of a wardrobe and two chests of drawers. The second bedroom is a restful single room. Guests should be aware that there are low ceilings and doorways throughout this traditional property.

As is typical of this type of property in the village, there is no parking provided at the cottage, but there are public car parks close by.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

we had a lovely time despite some rather inclement weather. Ideally placed for the quay. We took a short drive to the Northam country park most days to walk the dog. The walk along the beach at low tide was amazing. The local pubs are mostly good with the Champ having live music most nights.

We were greeted in the car park by John on our arrival, he had already purchased our ticket, we were then shown to the cottage and had a tour around a bottle of wine was in the fridge along with milk, tea and sugar was available, the location is very quiet and a few minutes walk from the river and local shops and caf, we really enjoyed our stay. ThRead moree care even carried on after we left, we had left a small item behind which John posted to us the next day, great customer service. Hide

Owners were very friendly and helpful. Lovely cosy cottage within a stones throw from the harbour. Lovely small village with all amenities very close by. Beautiful beach at Instow, just the other side of the harbour. Bike hire at a good price was really good, with easy cycle paths to go on. (Bike hire was in Bideford)

This was a lovely quaint cottage and the little village is very picturesque, but for us a little too quiet and we travelled out quite a bit. Some lovely touches from John milk and wine. Parking 16 for week in main car park. For us personally the no phone signal at all in the cottage and no WIFI was an issue for us to be able to stay in contact withRead more family. The door frames are low - ok for me but not hubby. Lovely large cream tea in market kitchen. Hide
