This unique luxury property is set within the stunning 1,000 acre estate of Margam Park which guests can access for free even when the park is closed.

Located on the edge of the stunning parkland, this unique stone cottage has been renovated to a high standard, is decidedly spacious and is surrounded by 1,000 acres of rolling countryside and deer park.

Situated opposite Margam Abbey at the end of a quiet no-through road, the cottage benefits from free access to Margam Country Park which is accessed through the cottages private locked gate, situated within the walled garden and is available to guests even when the park is closed to the public. This beautiful park includes a historic Victorian Castle, 17th century orangery, formal gardens, rare breeds farm trail, children’s fairy tale village, fishing lakes, adventure playgrounds, walking and bike trails and much more. The local area offers spectacular waterfalls, countryside, the Aberavon seafront and world class mountain biking at Afan Forest Park. The beautiful South Wales countryside is on the doorstep with the traditional seaside resort and surfing beaches of Porthcawl 6 miles, the stunning Gower Peninsula and the bright lights of the Welsh capital, Cardiff are both a 30 minute drive.

As you enter this unique property you will feel right at home, leading off the main entrance to your right, you will find the spacious kitchen with a small dining area, fully equipped for you to cook up a feast. As you head back towards the entrance hallway, open the door to your left, which will lead you in into the cosy lounge area with warming wood burner, the perfect spot to curl up and relax after a busy day exploring, leading off the lounge area is the sun room which is currently used as the dining room, a great social space with patio doors opening up onto the external walled patio area. Just off the lounge you will find the downstairs shower room and WC and a large utility/store room, which again has direct access outside. As you head upstairs you will reach the gallery landing, the bathroom with shower over the bath and WC is on your right, the single bedroom is to the left off the landing, followed by the further twin and king-size bedroom, all beautifully decorated and have views either towards the front of the property or walled patio area.

Heading outside you will enjoy complete relaxation in your own private patio area and walled garden with seating and BBQ, this area is a spot to relax and enjoy the sunset.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Charming cottage full of character and superior comfort. So warm and cosy, perfect for walking the Wales Coast Path and exploring the Margam Park attractions.

This is just a beautiful place to stay, steeped in history, access to the whole of Margam Park. You can park right outside, the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen are to a very high standard. The lounge furniture was a little small to relax on but the beds were lovely

Lovely cottage in lovely surroundings. Everything you need included in the cottage, on arrival there were cups and saucers ready with tea/ coffee for a drink and a welcome pack for our dog. Loved having access to the grounds especially when the park was closed, our dog also loved it. Peter from Friends of Margam very informative and helpful. Nice cottage, nice local area, private door to Margam Park was the star feature. There is enough to do in the park to keep busy for a week without going anywhere else.

A lovely cottage in a great location. Margam park is lovely to visit. Any issues quickly addressed. Good parking, comfy beds, good tv, nice outside furniture, lovely bedrooms. Internet a bit patchy. Very well equipped. Close to some lovely places. A good base. I would go again.

Cottage and location are both great ,site is fantastic as base for visiting Gower ,Swansea and Cowbridge ,Park is spectacular ,even joined in the dog walk for hearing fundraising day. Site has great History and spectacular scenery.

We had a fabulous family Christmas at Ivy Cottage. Our seven night stay was just what we hoped for, there was plenty of space for us five adults, the kitchen had everything we needed, the living room was comfortable and log fire a perfect touch. The dining room and bedrooms were lovely and comfortable. Peter Nash, (Friends of Margam) guide called oRead moren us on the first day to offer us a tour of the grounds, castle and history of Ivy Cottage. He was born there! The tours were very interesting!
