Set within the peaceful Gloucestershire village of Mitcheldean, this charming cottage is the perfect getaway for relaxing and exploring the Forest of Dean.

Tucked away behind the striking 17th century village church, Platts Cottage is ideally located for discovering the delights of Gloucestershire. This pretty end terrace is in a quiet location where you’ll be able to relax, but you have the best of both worlds with the village amenities a short walk away. Mitcheldean is at the gateway to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley and you’ll be surrounded by nature, heritage and if you want it; adventure! Known for its walks and outdoor activities, the area is home to such features as the Sculpture Trail, the Dean Heritage Centre and the scenic river at Symonds Yat where you can look for the nesting Peregrine Falcons or view the magnificent Tintern Abbey ruins.

This cosy cottage is light and spacious and has been very comfortably furnished and well equipped by the owners. The lounge has a feature inglenook fireplace with a wood burner and Freeview TV/DVD. The cosy kitchen/diner is well equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, coffee machine, fridge with ice box and washing machine. In the utility room there is a freezer. Completing the ground floor is the shower room with WC. Upstairs the attractive double bedroom with TV, has views to the village church.

Stepping outside you will find the lovely enclosed walled cottage garden to the rear with patio area, seating and a lawn with established shrubs and plants. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a bit of al fresco dining and if you’re bringing your family pet on holiday with you, they will be secure too. There’s also a handy bike store. Parking for the cottage is nearby and guests can purchase a weekly ticket from the car park.

What a gorgeous cottage so cosy and the garden was a pleasure to sit out in, we hardly went out as we had such great weather, lots of shady spots to keep our pooch happy and sunny spots to keep us happy

An absolute gem of a find. The cottage is lovely and the garden is absolutely stunning and perfectly secure for our dog Murphy. The flowers is every room and the treats of cake, fruit, milk and a bottle of bubbly for our anniversary was much appreciated. Joanne is so lovely and we couldn't have wished for a better stay.

Lovely cosy cottage., perfect for two people, and fabulous large fully enclosed garden, so safe for dogs ! Stairs may be a little steep for some people. Lovely cosy cottage with a beautiful secure garden,great if you're taking a dog. A wonderful location and host Huge beautiful garden, gorgeous cosy cottage every need was thought of. All mod cons. Fresh blackberries, raspberries, lemon drizzle cake and milk all left for us. Fresh flowers and a lovely thoughtful gift left for us too. Such a friendly village with food outlets and a big coop on doorstep. We enjoyed our week in this cosy little cottage and our whippet enjoyed the lovely garden. The cottage is well placed to explore the forest of Dean and Wye valley. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable one.

Yet again, we had the most fantastic time in this lovely, cosy cottage for 2. An idyllic garden, perfect for putting your feet up at the end of the day with a good book and glass (or two) of wine. Great location, great weather and lovely garden. Close to all amenities and perfect for you if you like long walks in the Forest. I'd recommend Puzzlewood, Symonds Yat and Beechenhurst arboretum for good walks with refreshments on tap.

The cottage is very comfortable, the log stove had plenty of logs, the kitchen well equipped and a beautiful garden the dog loved! Just a shame it was not warm enough to sit out! Access is through a VERY narrow passage, but after a while we managed to get the hang of it. Nice cottage and garden. Owner left fruit and cake, milk etc. Parking involved very tight reversing so probably best to use car park just across the road (only 6 per week or free at weekend) Overall a thoroughly enjoyable week.

This is a lovely little cottage tucked behind the local church. It has a beautiful garden, which is a pleasure to sit in and enjoy a cup of tea.
