A perfect romantic retreat set in the Cairngorms National Park, this is the outdoor centre of Scotland. A superb base for exploring the Highlands of Scotland. Enjoy a wide range of activities including climbing, walking, mountain biking, riding, fishing, golf and skiing. Local attractions include the outdoor Highland Folk Museum, Speyside Steam Railway and the Whisky Trail. Perfect base for bird-spotting with RSPB reserve at Loch Garten only 3 miles away. Abernethy Forest sits on the edge of the cottage and is the largest remaining section of Caledonian Pine. The forests around are full of interesting wildlife from Red Squirrels, Crested Tits, Crossbills and Capercaillie. Walk from the village to visit Nethy’s own Castle Roy. Visit Ballindalloch, Cawdor and Brodie Castles. Glen Urquhart Castle and Loch ness - a 'must do' to see Nessie.

Step inside this charming cottage to the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner, relax and unwind in front of the log burner, perfect for cosy romantic nights in to watch your favourite TV programme or film on the DVD. The kitchen area is well-equipped with electric oven, hob, fridge and microwave. Enjoy an evening meal at the dining table and chairs. When the day is done retire to the comfy king-size zip-and-link beds (can be made as a twin on request) There is an en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC. The Utility room is in the cellar accessed down four steps outside the cottage providing storage for sports equipment and wet weather gear.

Stepping back outside there is seating area to the front of the cottage with views over garden grounds. Take a stroll around the shared gardens and you will find a BBQ, summer house and a romantic seating area.

A lovely location with a gorgeous garden. The cottage was really cosy and warm which was lovely as we stayed in November. It was so lovely to see all the birds that came to the feeders and the red squirrel.

A small but lovely quiet cottage. The kitchen area has all we needed and the heating kept it nice and warm, even on the cold days. The bedroom had plenty of storage and the bed was extremely comfortable. We also used the woodburner which was great in the evenings. Definitely recommended for a couple. Birch Croit is a little gem of a place for couples who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. There are so many natural attractions near and in Nethy Bridge. It became a routine for us to walk across the road through the forest on the well-maintained paths. We saw so many birds (and heard even more) which was great for birders like ourselves.Read more But we didn't really have to step off the property to see birds as the gardens attract them. The cottage is lovely and cosy and is a very welcoming. Along with the woodburner which makes it feel very cosy and homely after a long day hiking. I felt very at home here and comfortable. The surrounding area is charming with walks straight from the house, and even a little shop which supplies everything from pies to firewood. If you hop in your Read morecar, there are local trails and circular walks taking you to various lochs which are absolutely beautiful. Overall would return and recommend. Hide

200 yards walk from Abernethy Forest and all its trails. Lovely village. Very quiet and relaxing. Cottage does the job as accommodation but do not expect wow factor inside.

This is a lovely cottage in a fabulous setting, with a variety of walks to suit all from the door step. Its close to a village shop and cafe and only a few miles to nearest town for everything else. This is a lovely little cottage and the garden is fabulous. Our little dog had a lovely time. A little upgrade to interiors , TV and cooking equipment make this even better.

Birch Croit is a beautiful little cottage set in lovely peaceful gardens with lots of birds and wildlife. It has everything needed to cook for yourself and a woodburing stove for warmth, although we didn't need this due to the warm summer weather. It's a good base for exploring the Cairngorms and it's close to many lovely forest walks. Very nice and cosy wee cottage. Well equipped, very warm, hot water instantly, comfortable bed. Spacious garden with birds to watch. The host is available for most of the time if you need any assistance. The village is a gem of Cairngorms, very convenient location for visiting nearby lochs and woodlands.
