A short walk from the sandy beaches of the Northumberland coast, this well-appointed lodge within a complex of four cottages offers outstanding accommodation just two miles from lovely Berwick with its independent shops, cafes and restaurants. This cottage is the ideal base for exploring the beautiful Border region with the heritage castles of Alnwick and Bamburgh, picturesque fishing villages like Alnmouth and Seahouses and the tidal causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne just a short drive away. Be inspired by The Sill, the National Landscape Discovery Centre in the Northumberland National Park or visit the historic abbeys and grand houses for which the Borders are renowned. Ideal for a family holiday, this breath-taking region has something for everyone.

The cottage is one of four properties built on the site of old colliery buildings in Scremerston village. The ground floor embraces an open-plan design that incorporates a lounge/kitchen/diner. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, washer/dryer, dishwasher and there’s a separate dining area with seating for four guests. There are also some comfortable sofas in the lounge area to unspool at the end of the day. Large fully-glazed patio doors lead out to the private deck with garden furniture. There's also an electric flame effect fire in a feature fireplace, and a TV/DVD. Upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms in the eaves: one double and one twin, with sloping ceilings / ample head height. Both bedrooms share a contemporary-style fully tiled family bathroom with bathtub and walk-in shower cubicle.

The cottage has access to its own private patio area with garden furniture and there are several private spots for relaxing and picnics in the shared grounds which are a particular feature of this complex of properties. There's also a children's play paddock enclosed with hedges and fencing that features swings and a slide.

Given the awful weather we had it was nice to return to a warm house with space to dry off wet gear. Ideally just off the A1 so easy access to all areas of Northumberland and despite this was very quiet. Bathroom is downstairs but separated from the lounge area by a couple of doors so not an issue. Ideal house for a short break. A few frustrating nRead moreiggles, we never managed to get get on the WiFi, no corkscrewso had to postpone NYE wine and a door lock issue (quickly fixed by owners). This was a really lovely property very close to Berwick. Ideal as a base for exploring up & down the coast. Very clean and well decorated. The open plan design downstairs meant the property felt quite spacious. Having the bathroom downstairs wasn't ideal but just something to be aware of if you are booking this property.

Clean and very warm property. Great, secure parking. Well resourced property. Bit further from Alnwick/Bamburgh destinations, 5 minutes into Berwick by car. Right off the A1 so handy for travelling to all destinations. No welcome pack of essentials so be prepared or pop into Berwick for a shop before you get there. No pub or eating places nearby toRead more walk to. There is a beach about 5 minutes by car. Hide

Very clean and comfortable accommodation within easy reach of many stunning places. Comfortable beds made for a good night sleep, don't let the downstairs bathroom put you off booking this property as nearby property security lights give just the right amount of light to negotiate stairs safely without waking you up to much. The only negative I havRead moree is the traffic noise sometimes, however I would certainly recommend this property for a lovely break. Hide

Nice cottage for a short break. The nearest beach is 5 minutes away in a car (I would not recommend walking). The beach is lovely though and not busy. Each cottage has a small amount of outside space which looks out onto the road. The children's play area is suitable for up to about 7 years and cannot be seen from the cottages.
