15th century traditional Devon Longhouse, located within the confines of Dartmoor National Park, with the English Riviera resorts of Torquay, Paignton, and Brixham just twenty miles away.

This property is accessed via a single-track road, which brings guests to the wonderfully rural property, where it is one-of-two on the owner’s farmland. Surrounded by the rugged beauty of Dartmoor National Park, guests can leave the property and immediately join the miles of scenic walks, cycle routes and bridleways. In complete contrast to Dartmoor, the elegant seaside resorts of the English Riviera, with its warm micro-climate, azure seas, and sandy beaches, is just twenty miles. Other attractions in the area include Paignton Zoo, the Living Coasts Aquarium in Torquay, and the ancient network of caves at Kents Cavern.

The front door of this property opens onto an unusual hallway with exposed stone floors, beamed ceiling, and whitewashed walls. From here, a door leads to the property’s cosy flag-stoned lounge, which has as its focal point, a stunning inglenook fireplace, which now houses the warming wood burner. Armchairs and a sofa give guests a comfortable place to unwind here, perhaps planning the next day’s sightseeing or may be watching a film on the TV/DVD. The dining room, which features the same well-maintained flagstone floor, has a dining table seating six. The property’s kitchen, though modestly-sized is, nevertheless, well-equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, and tumble dryer. Stone stairs lead to the property’s three bedrooms on the first floor. The first of these is one of two twin rooms, whilst the other two rooms are both cosy and comfortable. The bathroom has a ¾ sized bath with handheld shower and WC.

Outside, to the rear of the garden, is a private enclosed lawn with garden furniture. There is off-road parking available for two cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely cottage and wonderful owners. Great for dogs and proximity to the moor. We would definitely come back!

If you want to get away from everything then this is a great place. Owners are making a good effort to encourage wildlife and we found Spotted Flycatchers and Redstart nesting on the premises as well as sparrows etc. Good enclosed garden for dogs.

A perfect setting to relax with the family and the dogs, step out straight onto the moors and some of the most beautiful countryside you'll find anywhere. Lovely walk across the moor to Widdecombe village and two great, dog-friendly pubs. The house itself is comfortable, has character, lovely wood burner
