Perched on Llangattock Hillside with magnificent views across to the Sugar Loaf and Black Mountains National Park, this cosy retreat has been immaculately converted from an old stone barn into a beautiful holiday home in the hills.

The Llangattock Hillside offers acres of common land on your doorstep, as well as some of Europe's most interesting and challenging cave networks for the little more adventurous. Just perfect for walkers and cyclists with a host of walking and cycling trails throughout the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. Also an International Dark Sky Reserve so why not discover the wonders of the celestial sky. And for lazy days away from the mountains why not explore the picturesque town of Crickhowell for the morning newspaper and local bakery. For a traditional family day trip there are many attractions to include: The Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon Iron Works and Abergavenny Castle and museum.

Climb the hillside and take in the stunning views across the mountains.  The large glass doors and spiral staircase will again surprise you on entering a traditional barn, the open-plan lounge area with comfortable sofas finished thoughtfully with colourful cushions and throws providing the perfect background for a cosy night in with a good movie, with space for dining for a hearty supper after a day’s exploring the National Park. Taking a step or two down to a traditional kitchen that provides a great space for the cook amongst you.  Well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a shower room just off the kitchen. Climb the spiral staircase to the first floor where you will find a twin room with en-suite bathroom. A further climb to the second floor where you will find an inviting king-size bedroom within the eaves enjoying stunning views from the skylights.

Step outside into the hillside, the gardens are open aspect with garden furniture and BBQ, enjoy the privacy and stunning views and when the sun goes down why not start the voyage of discovery with the four inch refracting telescope. There is parking for two cars.

We had torrential rain for the first 36 hours, with thick cloud, so no views, we still loved it, so warm and cosy, then the clouds lifted to stunning vistas and we walked into Crickhowell for lunch and later were up on the escarpment with the ravens and buzzards. Beautiful cottage in excellent location. Ideal to explore surrounding area. Be aware of steep, narrow drive up to cottage. Lovely walks on your doorstep, especially along nearby canal. Excellent telescope in property to view clear, dark sky. Nearby pubs , Vine Tree & Dragon, excellent food & dog friendly. Recommend.

Amazing location. Stunning views. Very peaceful, special feel to the Barn. Only downside for us, was having a small dog & toddler which was fine in the barn- but we were not safely able to go walking from the barn with the pram, as the surounding lanes are narrow, singletrack lanes, so we drove everywhere- which was fine for us. There's a fantasticRead more heating system and a well equiped kitchen, with thoughtful supplies on arrival too, thank you for the biscuits! The baby loved them! Hide

Amazing location, views and everything about the place we loved. Challenging walk to and from the barn from crickhowell but definitely worth it and the children did it without much complaint. Will be certainly visiting again.
