A pretty period cottage perfectly located for exploring the near by countryside and for trips to the beach.

Located on the edge of Kidwelly, south of Carmarthen, this 19th century property offers the perfect mix of coast and country. It sits on a complex with one other cottage. The town boasts shops, cafes, a museum, the 12th century Kidwelly Castle, and Glan Yr Afon nature reserve . The local area is famed for its beauty,  so you’ll find a delightful mix of countryside, sea shores, estuaries and woodland, as well as fascinating market towns and villages. Visit Burry Port Harbour, Pembrey beach and Country Park, or the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Enjoy river and sea fishing, water sports, or walking the Kidwelly Canal path. (Please check admittance for the various attractions).

Put your feet up in the cottage lounge/diner. Here you can relax in front of the wood burner effect electric fire and watch a TV or DVD. In the kitchen, you’ll find everything you could need: electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Upstairs you’ll find the property’s only bedroom - a king-size, which also has a TV - and an en-suite bathroom, with a bath, overhead shower and WC and bidet.

Heading outside into the enclosed garden - which is shared with the holiday cottage next door - you’ll find a patio area with garden furniture and a BBQ, perfect for a post-beach al fresco dinner in the summertime. There’s also a secure, lockable outdoor storage unit for you to store your bikes and/or fishing equipment should you wish. From the garden you have direct access to a public footpath that takes advantage of the wonderful countryside setting - great for walking the dog or simply blowing away the cobwebs. The property has ample parking.

No criticism of the cottage, shame the village of Kidwelly is totally shut down. Castle closed pubs shut, industrial museum closed

Such a lovely cottage that is very well equipped and very cosy! Gill and John were fantastic with their communication and we were so grateful for their recommendations of places to go to see at eat. This cottage is beautiful with all one needs in a holiday home - big comfortable bed, small but well equipped kitchen, clean and modern bathroom with bath and powerful shower and a comfortable sitting room. It is an excellent base for touring local beaches, castles and countryside. Thoughtful touches such as milk in the fridge, free-range eggs and Read morea Welsh cake waiting in the kitchen made us feel very welcome. Super location for exploring in an around the Carmarthenshire coast. Ideal for morning dog walks by the river under the castle ramparts. Easy travelling to see the spectacular beaches at Pembrey, The Dylan Thomas cottage at Laugharne and many great sights on the nearby Gower, including Rhosilli bay. My sister and I had a lovely few days break at this cottage and we really enjoyed our time in the cottage. We cooked some meals and ate out as well. Plenty of pots and pans and utensils for cooking. Everything was beautifully clean and we were so happy that this property allows dogs too which meant I could bring mine with me to run on the beaches aRead moret Pembry, Tenby and Whitesands. Great cottage equipped to a very high standard. Very clean. Owners very helpful. Best cottage I have stayed in. Would recommend walking up the path at the back of the cottage to get a great view of the castle. Sainsbury's deliver online groceries to the cottage which made things very easy. Area great to explore.

This was the best equipped Cottage, we have every stayed in. It had everything you could possibly need/want. Very conveniently located with shop & pub just a few hundred yards away. The road was fairly busy, but no noise & gates for security for our dog. The location for getting around was perfect. It was ideal for us! Wonderful cottage in a great location. Beautifully renovated and very clean with the added touch of the owners hens eggs and some lovely Bara Brith left for us. Gill was so helpful and gave us plenty of options for eating out with our dog. We will be back.
