Situated close to the impressive rock escarpments of Curbar Edge which line the sides of the valley, the property is a great choice for those wanting to explore the Peak District. The pretty market town of Bakewell is just a short drive from the property and offers a wonderful array of shops, cafés and restaurants to explore. The majestic country house of Chatsworth is also nearby and a wonderful place for spending an afternoon.

One of two cottages in this location, entry to the property is via the fitted kitchen which contains all the essentials that guests require. The open-plan lounge-dining area is full of character from the exposed wood beams and a beautiful exposed stone wall which creates a central feature of the room. The space is a good size, yet cosy enough for an intimate night in watching TV after a day spent exploring the Peaks.

Stairs lead up to the charming bedroom which contains a double bed and has an en-suite with walk-in shower, hand basin and toilet.

Outside, the barn has a delightful patio seating area that’s perfect for al fresco dining. Of course if guests are seeking something a little cosier, the Bridge Inn pub at Curbar is a great spot for a delicious pub meal.

What a great place Booked late and this was in a great location at a good price Lower barn has all the facilities you could need and is very clean and tidy. I felt the pictures on the site made it feel remote but nothing could be further from the truth. Having said that it's a quiet location. I'd thoroughly recommend lower barn

We have just spent a lovely few days at upper barn cottage at Curbar. What a beautiful little dog friendly cottage. Absolutely spotlessly clean when we got there with everything we could need or want for a comfortable stay. Small and compact but perfect for a couple and a dog. We loved the basket with the dog blankets provided, we thought that was Read moresuch a lovely touch. We had a lovely time at the lower barn. My husband and I, as well as our dog, had a great time exploring the surrounding area. There is a great circular walk right next to the cottage that was perfect. Phil was prompt with his help telling us where we could park. It's not complicated just our brains weren't working after a day of driving! Gave 5 stRead morears as we had a lovely time, my only suggestion for improvement would be a hose for helping clean up a muddy dog after a day exploring. Thanks again! Hide

This is a very homely cottage, located in the perfect location! Lots of countryside walks from the doorstep and great amenities in the surrounding close by villages. Owners were easy to contact and always happy to help!

A gem of a place, ideally situated and quiet and private. We really relaxed. The owner was lovely too! He respected our privacy and was on hand if we needed anything. Wouldnt hesitate to stay again.

Loved our stay at Lower Barn. Our first time to the Peaks and it wont be the last. The location was great. Lovely cottage for 2. Everything there if your cooking, however if your on holiday the pub at bottom of hill do lovely food, The bridge inn. If you want to watch football, Eyre arms, they do food also. Not far from Bakewell, Chatsworth, eyam and Matlock but be warned, the roads were getting busy around 10ish. What a superb find! This cottage is gorgeous - comfortable, warm, cosy, well appointed and spotlessly clean. Curbar is a lovely village in a perfect spot for walking and exploring the surrounding area. Lovely cottage tucked away for lovely peaceful stay. Handy drive for car parking and unloading the car. Nice walks in the area such as Curbar Edge and Frogatt. A nice relaxing stay!!!

We spent 4 days / 3 nights st the cottage and we absolutely loved it!! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we fell completely in love with the cottage, its surroundings. This is a perfect little place for a couple or one person. A good spot from which to do nice walks, such as Froggat Edge and circular walk to Eyam. We ate at both local pubs where the food was good and the staff were friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights at Lower Barn!

This is a wonderful little place to stay and explore the beautiful Peak District, it was very clean and had everything you would need to stay comfortably. The owners were available by phone for any queries and very helpful. We had a lovely few days there and would have had an even better time if the weather had been better but thats completely uncoRead morentrollable. Me, my partner and 1 dog stayed at Lower Barn in Calver. Was a beautiful location and the cottage was perfect. They left us some milk and tea. We had some great walks and will definitely be coming back. Wonderful weekend helped by the cottage we stayed at.
